Dhadak Is A Hit - Holds Well On Monday

Dhadak has emerged a HIT film as it collected 5.25-5.50 crore nett on Monday which takes the business of the film to nearly 38.50 crore nett.. The film has dropped 35-40% from the first Friday which is very good considering the it was a healthy opening day.

The trend of the film is stronger than a Veere Di Wedding which had dropped to a similar total on Monday but from a 10 crore nett opening. The difference is that film was driven by the high end multiplexes and this film is mainly driven by normal multiplexes especially outside the metros.

The business in single screens are decent. It continues the good run in 2018 where most films with some awareness have done pretty well. The first four day collections of the film are below.

Friday - 8,50,00,000 apprx

Saturday - 10,75,00,000 apprx

Sunday - 13,75,00,000 apprx

Monday - 5,35,00,000 apprx

TOTAL - 38,35,00,000 apprx

The first week will go to around 52 crore nett plus and then it will be that second Friday that will determine the lifetime total.

There will be competition with a few Hindi films releasing on Friday but the main competition will come from Mission Impossible 6 as that film is an action film and will dominate multiplex screens. The plus for Dhadak is that Mission Impossible 6 may not be that good in the Hindi belt where Dhadak is very strong.

It is a free run till Gold. Could go full Raazi at the box office.

this movies success cannot be credited to anyone except for dharma, the original sairat, the storyline and srivdevis sudden death.

the original sairat which was raw and "messy" made 100 crore with 2 completely new and unknown actors, it wasn't a glamourized movie, made in Marathi and it made 100 crore.

sridevi nostalgia also has added to the audience being keen to see jahnvi onscreen.

dharma is a big production house and them backing this movie was a big deal!

last but not least the storyline and the ending was so good it was bound to do well.

this is not taking away from those who have worked hard in dhadak but this movie was bound to do well and taking all the aforementioned factors into consideration any less than 100 crores would be disappointing.

I really want to see what their next movies make provided it's not another hits remake

Why are people crediting Sridevi's death to Dhadak's success? Infact if Sridevi was still alive, the movie would've gotten even more buzz & attention as she would've also promoted it with Janhvi & Ishaan.

So her demise didn't help the movie. People need to stop bringing her death to relate to Janhvi all the time!

Thats untrue, Jahnvi has been a paparaazi darling since long, maybe Sri's death got her the sympathy vote, but the media agrees that only two star kids are high in demand, when it comes to getting papped, one is Jahnvi and other is Taimur. The reason is simple, the supply of their pics is high, because their demand is high. Meanwhile others like Sara and Ananya have to invite Media to click them..

so there definitely was huge anticipation for her debut.

I really want this movie to do well. The comparisons with Sairat aside, it is truly one of the best movies this year..but the Anti-Dhadak campaign by the Sairat fans has somewhat created a negative image about it and people without watching it are panning it..that is quite unfair.
