But, even if one goes by his side of the story that he did it to protect his family, didn't he for a moment think about the 'kind' of weapons that were being smuggled? What made him believe that using AKs against those who would try to harm hia family would be a good idea?

Also, Mumbai Police did find the destroyed weapons in his house. His friend who helped him in destroying the weapons confessed too.

No weapons were found in his house, the only proof they had was his own confession which was taken under duress. Sanjay only got into the mess because the producers who got caught and gave him the gun told his name to the police in order to free themselves, he openly told their exact names and the movie they were making for him in various interviews and in the movie Sanju. The producers didn't get away with their sentence though because they were literally supplying guns. Sanjay's side of the story is that he was under duress due to both the underworld and the political parties, and his producers who were involved with the underworld gave him the gun and later got him into trouble, it seemed like a ploy to get him into trouble. Not that people of IF will believe his story but I wish the movie could tell the details like Sanjay dutt did, the way he spoke in a few of his interview was very well done, he gave all the names and all the details humanly possible in a very calm and open way. Sanjay also admitted that he was fond of hunting and that also lured him to the gun. And I personally can't find a single piece of proof against him anywhere.

@Bollywoodlaver Is your knowledge solely based from the film?
There were call records of him telling his friend to get the weapons destroyed that were submitted in the court. His friends had tried to destroy the weapons and throw them off into the sea from Nariman point, but the police had manage to find parts of the weapons from the rocks that were situated there. There was one weapon that hadn't been destroyed and it was found with him in his house.

That's what goes against him. Who in their right mind would keep such destructive weapons for self defence?
He has confessed to destroying the weapons in his official statement. But not to accepting or destroying the whole consignment of weapons. The barrel of AK-56 could not be destroyed and that was what was discovered at his friends house. I guess that's where he is getting the benefit of doubt.

I think i also read that one of the weapons was found with Sanjay in his house that his friend had not been able to destroy. The evidence against Dutt was solid.

Yes. I guess that was the one. He had these weapons despite his father having licensed guns.

Sanjay dutt hid Ak 47s and tried to destroy it. He hid weapons in his house for underworld goons to carry out their terrorist activities. This fact was whitewashed
He left his wife Richa who was suffering from cancer and his young daughter Trishala and gave nosupport to them whatsoever ...again not shown in them Oviedo

His marriage to Rhea pillai not shown

I have seen Sanjay dutt when he was at the peak of his addiction. Absolutely scary and I was a young kid then, did not even go near him. ( Khatron ke khiladi ) was the movie , last climax scene )

This whitewashing of someone in the name of biopic . If you tell me, this won't influence the audience at least a certain section of it , I won't believe it

No way am I going to contribute my hard earned money for showing/glorifying/whitewashing a certain criminal on big screen.

I said it before the movie released that people will eventually sympathise with Dutt post this movie. In present time where people end up lynching people based on whatsapp forwards then a movie can turn the world upside down. Dutt and Hirani played a very very dirty game. They not only gave a fictional story in the name of a biopic they also abused the media for not letting Dutt close down the case with all his money and power. I hope every journalist dig out all the articles from the past and splash it all over social media. Its important for everyone to know the other side of the story too , the real side. No wonder they are pulling down all the articles.Chori jo pakri jayegi.
