Content Rocks!

June 23, 2018

In times when Bollywood is flush with new concepts, producers need to present content that is headstrong and different, to stand really out. A name that comes to mind is filmmaker Sunir Kheterpal, CEO of Azure Entertainment. Kheterpal is a true believer in content-driven cinema and is keen in bringing as much as he can to the table for audiences.

Kheterpal is not just banking on original scripts, he is also trying to adapt world cinema to Indian audiences. Azure uses a dual approach to content development, comprising acquisition of foreign language remake rights and filming rights to books, and a more organic approach to original content development whereby it focuses on spectacular, big ideas.

Azure is currently producing the recently announced Badla directed by Sujoy Ghosh starring Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu. It is an official remake of the Spanish film Contratiempo; another Spanish film Body starring Emraan Hashmi; and Thai film Bad Genius, which is also one of the highest grossing films in China. He is co-producing Kesari along with Dharma which stars Akshay Kumar in the lead.

---

Last week, we told you how Azure Entertainment got their hands on the rights to the hit Thai film Bad Genius, to make a Hindi remake of the film. Now we hear that the production house has got a partner on board too. Plan C Studios, a collaboration between filmmaker Neeraj Pandey and Reliance Films, will also be a part of the Hindi remake.

Pandey will be overseeing production of the project along with Azure. Other details of the film are yet to be decided but considering that the movie did fantastic business in the Chinese market and it is in the hands of noted filmmakers now, the Hindi remake promises to be an interesting one.

^ That's what I was thinking. They're also working with Red Chillies/SRK on Badla and potentially some other film.
They seem to be coming like KriArj did.
