Tell me about it. I get all the fuss about sponsorship and media attention but why is this red carpet thing given so much priority in a film festival? We hardly have more than two Indian films being selected for Cannes each year. Sometimes the count is none. Last year Payal Kapadia was the only Indian director who took her film Afternoon Clouds which was selected for the competition. People hardly covered her.

I'm still waiting for the day, Indian actors, actresses and directors actually go to Cannes for their film and not walking around the red carpet like a fashion show. 😕

It was such a proud moment to see the audience giving a five minute long standing ovation for an Indian film like Masaan at Cannes and the media and everyone is so serious and tensed about what these actresses will wear on the red carpet for some cosmetic brand. 😕

That's why I requested that people post Cannes related stuff in one thread. I'm sure there are many of us who are just not interested in who is wearing what at Cannes and who is beating whom on the red carpet.
