Can you explain what was so disrespectful? 😊

Yeah. Just like the national flag has to be dealt with in a certain way, there are rules for it, the armed forces are an important part of our nation and one should be careful to not appear offensive to them. If commercialisation of the uniform of the armed forces is an offence by law, then she should have been careful to not use that term or just apologised after his tweet and corrected it. No need to point fingers back at him while playing victim.

This thing could've have been solved without so much furor. Both the parties are on wrong side. Human makes mistakes. He could have just corrected her with one simple line and she could have just apologized for the same. There's already so much hate, we don't need any more negativity.

Also I am confused. Is this because of commercialization of uniform or for calling costume a uniform.

I think some topics should really be dealt with more sensitivity. Twinkle and Akshay's intention may have come from an honest place, but their process and marketing strategy was horrible. If the idea was only to pick out a memorabilia from Akshay's films and auction it to raise funds for charity, they could have picked anything under the sun! Why specifically go for an army costume, and then foolishly or deliberately call it a uniform? It just makes the argument about commercializing the uniform totally prominent in the public discourse.
People from the defence forces are very particular when it comes to their country and their uniform. It's more than sacred to them. Hence, the flag and the uniform should be dealt with sensitivity.

No. Twinkle is an adult. And educated at that. She should've known better. I don't think there was anything wrong with what he wrote. Twinkle herself has the choicest names for people she wants to call out. And she still didn't apologise and tried to turn it around on him. I blame it all on her really.

She called a costume a uniform, most probably to make it sound more appealing and he's just correcting her by saying why she can't call it uniform and how he will drag her to court for trying to auction a uniform if she doesn't correct her term for the piece of clothing.

To be brutally honest, he is a troll. India has some dangerously jingoistic attitude about military personnel and memorabilia. To a point that sometimes they even outdo Murrica. And outdoing Murrica in jingoistic military pride is a big feat.
What Akshay wore in Rustom is a costume. Everything in the film and theater is a costume. But actors and stage managers call them by their actual name. Scripts will say "X enters stage right wearing Nazi uniform." The Stage Manager will inventory it as 24th infantry uniform, 19th aiborne uniform. The costume is understood and implied.

So it is not surprising that a person referred to a costume as uniform. Accidentally calling it a "uniform" is an honest mistake. I empathize with the sentiment that military might feel hurt by this misrepresentation. But it is an honest mistake. Had the army man sought out to teach and educate, it would be understandable. Had the army man even demanded respect and a correction, it would be understandable. I might have even understood the threat to sue. Free country. Let the court decide. But the fact that he actually threatened physical violence. That makes him no better than a troll. And you know the saying - when men with big guns feel the need to threaten unarmed civilians they're compensating for something too small.

Besides, for crying out loud - it was for charity - for animal welfare. Since when did man-made ideas for ego become more important than actual living breathing life?

Also, military auctions are not uncommon. There are auctions on military memorabilia and uniforms on a regular basis. Some are for museums and education. Some are for private collections. Some are for film and theater. Sometimes filmmakers and playwrights will try to get their hand on authentic merchandise for authenticity.

Here is GSA.gov auctioning actual flag patches that are sewn onto uniforms. Think of this - the symbol of a nation and its pride is worth just $15.00 for now

It is also not uncommon for military members to sell their medals, either for charity or raise funds for their own needs.

But I digress. Indian army is above anything and everything. How dare I compare them to military of other nations. Twinkle Khanna is a c**t for thinking she can sell even a replica of a uniform.

On the 'bloody nose' - He spoke about dragging her to the court if she auctions it as 'Uniform'. Therefore, it should be taken in that context. Read his post and try to understand the context in which he used the idiom. By a 'bloody nose' he meant she would be dealt a defeat in the courts and not bodily harm. She twisted his words, ignored the context and threatened legal action (which is her right). Even the courts may have a hard time entertaining her misinterpretation.

u dont have the right to call a military personnel a troll. U wouldn't be typing all that u did in the comfort of ur home or office if there weren't these men in.uniform guarding us.

And then she dares to call herself a feminist? I used to think that she has to keep quiet about Akshay's misogyny at times because he is her husband but now I think she is no better herself. Also, liked how he said she should instead auction Akshay's awards for the oh-so-noble cause of raising funds for the NGO. There are many ways to raise funds and this can't be used at an excuse to justify trying to auction a uniform/ a costume in the name of a uniform.

Do people really think it's okay to threaten people with a bloody nose on SM ?

Can't believe some here are supporting this guy!
