Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan are not only two of the biggest superstars of India, they are also close friends. There relationship has seen quite a few ups and downs but it won't be wrong to say that it has stood the test of time. For a large part of their twenty five plus years in the film industry Shah Rukh remained the top box office draw but in the last five years his pull has taken a hit. In the same time frame Salman Khan has attained mega stardom. In the last eight years barring the underperformance of Jai Ho and the dismal performance of Tubelight, almost all his films have been blockbusters and all time blockbusters.
Off late Salman Khan's films have been easily doing Rs 300 crore business at the domestic box office while Shah Rukh is finding it tough to even go past Rs 150 crore. In fact, his last fim Jab Harry Met Sejal couldn't even go past Rs 70 crore mark.
Recently, Salman video called Shah Rukh and the two were seen talking about box office performance of their films when SRK took a dig at his own dismal run at the ticket window. Well, it all happened at recent Filmfare Awards 2018. Towards the end of Shah Rukh's opening performance, he got a call from Salman. Even though it was a part of the act but the conversation that happened between the two is extremely hilarious.
When Salman asked Shah Rukh about the reason behind hosting the show, SRK quipped,
Ab kya karu yaar, tum log 300-300 crore wali filmein kar rahe ho mujhe toh yahi karke kamaana padega na. (What to do? Your films are making Rs 300 crore at the box office, this is the only way for me to make that much amount)
To which Salman was quick to respond,
Ab kya karu yaar, tum log 300-300 crore wali filmein kar rahe ho mujhe toh yahi karke kamaana padega na. (What to do? Your films are making Rs 300 crore at the box office, this is the only way for me to make that much amount)
You can check the conversation here at 05:25.
Even though the whole conversation was staged and in jest, kudos Shah Rukh for being such a sport and being cool about the underperformance of his recent films at the box office. His self depricating humour is one of his asset that makes him darling of billions.
