I have seen people converting for money, with force and for marriage...Very rarely, if at all, out of freewill!

I am not too sure abt it.. A.R. Rahman did convert to Islam owing to deeper connect. Someone plz correct me if i am posting a wrong info..

He did come to my mind when I was posting the above...That's why I said very rarely!

EDIT: I remember reading about it way back in one of his interviews...Apparently his sister was dying and nothing they did worked, then as a last resort they went to this muslim baba or something and promised to themselves that they will convert to Islam if it worked...

Many people convert to islam coz of thier own personal choice and free will, they feel a deeper connect and understanding to another religion, and that shud be thier rite to be part of a religion that they truly feel a connection with

In Dipika's situation only she knows the reason why she converted, did she do it just for marriage or did she feel a real connect to islam and so converted, only she knows, but it's her personal matter

Did Gauri Khan and Kiran Rao also convert to Islam ?

None of them had an Islamic marriage . Saif's mom, Salman's mom did

But Salman's mom still follow all rituals of both hinduism plus Islam...They celebrate all festivals...

I think this conversion is only to appease the in-laws n the religious heads, later they follow what they want to follow...

That's what I am saying , may be the conversion is just for marriage or pleasing family
no there are too many cases in india where husbands says he will let wife follow here religion but after 2 years he change n start putting pressure that she cant follow n kids will follow only Muslim culture ,its very heartbreaking for anyone ,if a girl cant teach n expose her religion rituals ,her own kids whom she kept 9 months in her womb

its harassment ,snatching others rite, simple.

I am surprised to read this because when she participated in Jhalak dikhla ja, once she had come with her husband's family and she had gone on and on about how they are so considerate to her and no pressure for being from a different religion. I was really pleased with his family for being so liberal even though they all appeared to be really conservative. And now this !

So it was only drama for the show !

I don't respect a person who has no respect for the identity that her/his parents gave by birth...the free will...personal space is all BS...
true love doesn't care abt religion...age limits...why didn't the guy change religion for her...why its always the women compromise n she becomes a doormat...

forget religion...my hubby is a punjabi...i don't even take my hubby's surname...he never force me either

My friend's dad is a muslim, mom a hindu. She follows both the religions. She and her sister have hindu sounding names n surname is of father's.
I hardly saw two or 3 marriages like these like the earlier one I mentioned. But most of the time the girl is given subtle.hints of convert and get fully accepted.

Religion is a personal matter. Dipika changing it is her choice whether out of pressure or free will. The important thing is she should be happy and not feel suffocated.
