Cardiac arrest basically means your heart stopped. It's never a cause of death. Something has to CAUSE your heart stop. A heart attack, a lung clot can cause instant cardiac arrest. Also if the fluid status in your body is too much or too little, usually due to bleeding out, or kidney disease.
Or if someone has lack of oxygen or is hypoxic. Or if someone has electrolyte abnormalities, once again, normally due to kidney disease. It's just SOOO unusual for someone young and healthy to have a cardiac arrest.
Which makes me wonder if she had Diabetes that was underlying and uncontrolled, causing heart disease, causing a heart attack. Lung clots are also highly likely if she just took a flight.

Note few points

Concept is this

- Person falls down

- responds..means pulse is there and breathing. not that serious

- does not responds...starts CPR

- CPR is not the solution...call 911 or located defib which I am sure not there in many places

- so what you can do is CHEST COMPRESSION...which is making heart to pump blood while helps comes...u can get tired...but at rate of 100/min u have to do it. blood is circulating...

- mouth to mouth breathing can be provided if u know how to do it..but its not main thing

- main thing is compression...

eventually medical helps needs to come ..or u have to take patient while doing all this

a video

I think I've read a few cases of normal, healthy athletes also suddenly dying of cardiac arrest but for them it was usually Marfan Syndrome or other such unusual genetic disorders. She must have had something that was undiagnosed. This is just beyond belief.

A very valuable post Hippo. I hope this post inspires more people to learn CPR and AEDs should be installed throughout India. CPR is 1 of the most important treatments to be employed for cardiac arrest. So everyone, please go learn CPR for the sake of your family and friends. It's a really valuable skill which you'll never know will come handy.

Buss sabko doctor ban na hai yahan.
Dr.Zatka apne sabhi patient ko magic pill saath rakhne ko kehta hai. Heart attack ke symptoms se lage to 325mg ki aspirin place it in mouth, crush and chew it with water. It will prevent clumping of platelets thus helps dissolving the clot. At the bare minmum it can reduce the chances of permanent damage.

From this second I have given up all butter , oil and processed foods.
Smoking Drinking I was anyway not doing.
Cardio excersices from today
and esp to my parents and brother , I will not let them eat unhealthy food.
Thats it.
This was like a wake up calll.

I cannot believe one of my fav people, actually my mother's fav actress passed away.
She was just 54.

I wish it was this easy... only eating heart healthy stuff doesnt help, esp in today's world when companies market their stuff as heart healthy just to increase their sales.

Routine health check once a year is a good thing to start from. Checking electrolytes gives a decent report.

Just 2-3 months back, I visited my mom's doctor, as she had lost her appetite. So he told me it can be an increase in creatinine and to get the blood checked. On doing so, we found out that not only creatinine but her potassium levels were also high. Potassium is an essential mineral, but even its high dose can cause the heart to stop functioning. Same is with haemoglobin, it also shouldnt go very low, if it goes below 8 that can stop heart function too.

Sometimes high potassium can indicate the kidney disease. It's better to get the kidneys functional test done. Doctors might ask you to stop taking high potassium food like milk, banana, oranges etc. Get her sugar A1C test done.
Best wishes
