Pakistan Censor Board Bans Padman For Its Taboo Subject That Goes Against Traditions & Culture'

According to The Indian Express, the film, which revolves around the struggle of social activist Arunachalam Muruganantham to introduce low-cost sanitary napkins, was not cleared by Pakistan's Federal Censor Board. Apparently the members of the panel felt 'taboo' subjects like menstruation cannot be allowed on screen in Pakistan.

FCB member Ishaq Ahmed said -

"We can't allow our film distributors to import films which are against our traditions and culture."

The member of the Punjab Film Censor Board outright refused to watch the film, as they felt it was against their 'religion'.

Oh please don't drag Islam into it.

This has nothing to do with religion. In fact if anything, Islam preaches us to educate ourselves about everything and that there is no shame in the religion when it comes to education.

These regressive people are ridiculous and they certainly didn't ban it because of religion but more because of cultural understanding of what is shameful.

If it was about religion they certainly wouldn't have approved a movie wich clearly demonizes muslims and banned another movie with such an important message and which actually could have had a positive impact in terms of social awarness.

Did Padamvat demonise Muslim's or was it about a tyrannical Sultan who happened to be Muslim?

Khiliji and ALL his people wee portrayed as savages, uncooth, uncivilized : that's demonizing... Especially when their opponents the Rajput were glorified ...
And don't play the history card : nothing in this movie is backed by historical facts !
Khiliji depiction is far from being accurate.
