Is it so difficult to understand why there is so much opposition for the movie.

They worship Rani padmavati as a goddess and they don't want her to be shown as a movie where SLB can show whatever he wants in the name of creative freedom.

I mean think about it. If I worship someone, I wouldn't want to see a movie on that which would influence the audience to think abt the character/ god/ goddess in a certain way, good or bad

Now for eg: in PK, there was a scene where a drama artist playing Shiva gets locked in the bathroom and runs out scared ...now some thought it was funny but I know many people who cringed and we're offended by that , it was borderline mocking in some sense according to them.

Let me tell you, had they done the same showing Jesus or mocking the Islamic god indirectly like how they did in PK , PRETTY SURE it would have been a grave situation .

If you do want to make a movie on historical figures, good or goddess, one should not distort or manipulate it for their own personal gains, in this case to make money.

That's my take on this. I do understand the sentiments but this violence is totally unwarranted and a wrong way to put across their points on why they oppose the movie

I had no idea padmavati's status is same as gods ??
As far as my understanding is that the only distortion in movie is to show Rajputs as doodh ka dhula who do no worng which they aren't/weren't and showing khilji as a junglee mannerless caveman type which he wasn't .

I agree with you on this. One should respect others sensibilities.
For some it might be absurd but when you dearly love your customs, religions... there will always be some things one would be touchy about even if it's not logical.

The thing is they shouldn't have acted this violently. There are other ways to show displeasure.
From the moment they were violent, they lost the most important thing which is public opinion. From then on, the others followed to safeguard their image and credibility.
