Members of Karni Sena broke chairs and a music system in St Paul Convent School in Jaora of Ratlam district of Madhya Pradesh on Monday, following a dance performance on Ghoomar song from film Padmaavat now named Padmaavatduring a cultural programme.

Raising slogans, the activists stormed the school and damaged a few plastic chairs and a music system. The police have arrested four students of neighbouring Bhagat Singh PG College who identified themselves as members of Karni Sena. Ratlam SP Amit Singh said that nobody was hurt during the ruckus caused by the activists who were being sent to jail. He said the activists entered the school more than an hour after the dance performance. The activists were booked for trespassing, rioting and endangering the safety of others.

In November, the District Education Officer (DEO) of Dewas had issued circular asking local schools not to play the song to ensure that sentiments of Hindus were not hurt. However, the circular was immediately withdrawn after an explanation was sought from the DEO.

I think what's scarier than the sena even thinking of such an attack in a school is the people who have actually done the destruction - young college going students themselves! This is the reason why extremists of any kind should not be tolerated at all. People who support these goons say they are protecting their religion and culture. This is how you protect culture? By teaching kids violence and destruction in the name of religion? There's nothing worse than teaching kids hate since childhood so that. it's etched in their minds forever, probably the reason why we still have hatred for each other today. And this sadly is happening throughout the world and I'm very, VERY scared for the future, something that these extremists want to instill-Fear!

This is getting ridiculous, why no one is stepping up and stopping these goons.

This is not how you preserve the culture or religion by attacking schools or children. That too for a queen who could be a fiction and have no records of even existing.

Shameful! Vandalising a school, showing muscles to children and terrifying them - by these dastardly deeds, are they trying to demonstrate their exclusive rajput valour and honour or is THIS the culture they are protecting? Whatever it may be, we certainly can't afford to create a future generation that tolerates violence and hatred.

A section of rajputs who are indulging in thuggery to prevent a movie release is damaging whatever little goodwill rajputs have left in 21st century India. In a democracy you can only gain disrespect by indulging in mob behaviour and issuing vile threats. If they really want to earn society and nation's respect they must behave like a civilised community and abide by rule of law. But who am I kidding?

The performance of ghoomar song is about the depiction of folk dance which many women and children like and perform. The act of depicting it simply represents a work of art and has nothing to do with the 'story' behind this. The malice seems to be unwarranted and misplaced.

If the rajput community find themselves discredited it's because of their own behaviour and not due to any campaign against them.

PS - When cash box of school is ransacked we can somehow sense the real agenda of the thugs.
