After what was a hasty turn of events once the Shahid Kapoor Deepika Padukone Ranveer Singh starrer Padmavat got cleared by the CBFC, the film locked the earliest date they could make, and that meant clashing with Akshay Kumar Sonam Kapoor Radhika Apte starrer PadMan. It would be assumed that more than even sharing the spoils, Padmavat will take the lion's share of the box office given the curiosity it has generated among fans over all these months of nationwide controversy. However, Sonam Kapoor remains unfazed by the clash.

Talking about PadMan's clash with Padmavat, Sonam said at an event, "It's a good thing. Good cinema is good cinema. I don't believe in competition. Our film is sweet and simple and I think honestly I am happy that the film(Padmavati) is releasing. I hope it does well. Sonam then went on to share the details of her upcoming films this year,"I am going to shoot in February, March and April for Vinod (Chopra) Uncle's production. Then I will start preparing for Zoya Factor', she said. "Also there are three releases this year, first Pad Man' this month, then Veere Di Wedding' in May and then Dutt biopic, so I will be busy with films. So, there is no time for other plans. The entire team of PadMan have been very welcoming of accommodating Padmavat for the long weekend. Even Akshay Kumar claimed that he is, in fact, happy that the film is finally releasing. "It is not about competition, it is a very big day, a big week, so all the films can come, both the films can release on that day. Every film has the right to release whenever they want, and I am happy for them, said Akshay. Both PadMan and Padmavat are slated to release on January 25, 2018.
