The film is no longer named after her character, yet the film is supposed to be celebrating the strength, courage and sacrifice of Rani Padmavati. Also it's her song Ghoomar that was shot under the guidance of a Ghoomar expert who did research that gets edited thanks to disapproval from ignorant people.

😆I remember Shobha De was the first one to tweet to change the title of the movie , pphir no problem. Lol. But didn't deepika tell bhansali that the title better be padmavati ONLY

She even threatened to walk out if title was changed😆

The title of the epic poem about Padmavati, written by Jayasi, the one who created Padmavati from of his imagination. 😆

Padmavati or Padmavat - both refer to queen Padmini only.

Muhammad jaayasi who wrote the fictionalised epic poem 'padmavat' mentioned her as padmavat. The poem was titled after her.

The reason for the modification of the title is that the makers have attributed their creative source to the fictional poem. Also CBFC wants a clear disclaimer to state that the film doesn't claim historical accuracy. Hence the title change from their perspective, maybe. But from a general perspective it appears senseless.

She was not called Padmavat in the poem. She was called Padmini.

Padmavat means an account of Rani Padmini/Padmavati

My second most awaited film of 2018 after TOH
