LOVEDDD PC IN THIS!
I think her younger character earlier in the movie really resonates with me now, more than it ever did. I remember when I first watched it as a young teen, all I could think was WOW, what a b**tch for not getting married and having a child and could never imagine choosing a career over potential marriage+kids. And now, its so true. My personal and professional development will come before me getting married or thinking about having kids right now.I still remember that line she said, something a long the lines of: I am not aborting this child because I am unwed, I am aborting it because it isn't what I want right now, I want a career etc etc" Obviously the topic of abortion is very sensitive and was an extreme in this case, but the idea behind it is so relevant these days where women are beginning to put themselves before societal expectations.I really do think she played a progressive role at a time where it was still considered a "bitch or selfish" move (NOTE: I am NOT refering to the part where she marries an old man for $$ and tries to seduce her now married ex for sex)

So true. Society (outside most metros) continues to have the mindset that a woman who does not want to get married and have children, or puts her career first, has no morals or values.I keep seeing cases about my cousins who live in India in which, upon getting married, the woman gives up her career to move wherever the husband is. If she wants to continue to work, well, she must start from scratch.

Lets not generalize. I want to get married but women i find are obsessed with babies and wanting to become homely after marriage. And i want to marry someone with ambition who doesn't want kids for the next 5 years and thats a turn off for women. And i am not even talking about India/Pakistan i am talking about the US. Some women (read those daddy's little princesses) still want to be married to an ATM machine without putting in any effort.Oh and all the spiel about women putting themselves and career first and yada yada, well these women should invest in the morning after pill or an IUD to save themselves from making difficult choices.

I know. It's just that I found Akki rejecting PC's "offer" unrealistic 😆.
