Did Queens ever dance in history or its only in SLB's world?

Just watched the Ghoomar song. Deepika did a good job. Song is also good but I wonder if regal Queens ever danced in history? wasn't it against the honor of a Queen to dance with dancers?

I doubt it..but that being said there are records of many wives/concubines dancing for the(ir) king in private- as a means of seduction.

They may have also danced with their female slaves in their palace- though given the kind of jewellery etc worn highly unlikely.

Hardly ever especially in Rajasthan. It was & still is, very looked down upon. But private weddings where only the household/noble ladies are present, is a different situation altogether. There, they might.

may be no ,but we cant be sure,but pretty sure not in rajasthan ,and like shown in video infront of everyone,may be whn there is some private ceremony or something

SLB made a 'thakurain' (Paro) dance with a prostitute (Chandramukhi) ...that was blasphemy 😆 Never ever could something like that have happened in real hist.

But it was portrayed as blasphemy too. Whereas from Paro it was a gesture, she didn't see Chandramukhi as a courtesan, but just as a lover of Devdas.

Besides, they were completely fictional characters..

I don't see a wife and her sautan doing pinga together or a leader like Bajirao doing Malhari either . So yeah SLB gets away with these stuffs in the facade of grandeur.People are way too busy in applauding the whole set up that they ignore such logic .

Thakurains never danced like that in that era forget dancing with a prostitute . Ofcourse SLB took cinematic liberty.
