on one hand this pisses me off because he's being forced to do this but on the other hand if it stops this mess or at least calms it down and leads to a smooth release in Rajasthan so be it

The song is very emotional. Can't even imagine the fear they would have gone through at that time.

Recently, a Tamil film Mersal was questioned for its mildly political comments after the CBFC had passed it.
With the film finally getting there, the curtain finally falls on the spate of ugly unfounded controversies surrounding the film.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali's controversial Padmavati was finally submitted to the Central Board Of Film Certification (CBFC) on Friday, three weeks ahead of its scheduled December 1 release.

A source from the film's team informs, "When it was decided just five weeks ahead of release that we would convert the film from its 2D format to 3D, we had to work round-the-clock with the technicians to make the deadline. We were not allowed to submit a 2D version. We had to submit a 3D version to the CBFC, which we've now done.

With the film finally getting there, the curtain finally falls on the spate of ugly unfounded controversies surrounding the film. Says a source from the CBFC, "Once the film is viewed, and if the fears of the protesters (mainly about a dream sequence featuring Rani Padmavati with her adversary Allauddin Khilji) prove unfounded, the film will be certified and be allowed to release on time. As a Filmmaker @SLBhansali_ he is responsible and is entitled to tell history, he hasn't changed it. Padmavati is a chapter from history says Rahul Rawaill at #WeSupportPadmavati #IFTDAprotests

Yes! Finally!

I'm envious of these lucky people who will get to watch the movie before the rest of the world. It's their job but still.

I hope the CBFC will be impartial and meticulous in their verdict and certification.

Padmavati row: Film associations back Sanjay Leela Bhansali film

Padmavati, slated to release on December 1, is embroiled in a controversy as some Hindu groups and political parties, including the Congress and the BJP, claim that the film distorts history and wrongly portrays Rajput queen Padmini, a contention Bhansali has repeatedly rebuffed.

The Indian Film and Television Directors' Association (IFTDA) will on Monday lead an appeal to Information and Broadcasting Minister Smriti Irani and Home Minister Rajnath Singh, on behalf of four other associations, to allow freedom for filmmakers in the wake of the ongoing controversy over Padmavati.

Members of IFTDA, Cine and TV Artists Association (CINTAA), Western India Cinematographers Association (WICA), Screenwriters Association (SWA) and Association of Cine and Television Art Directors & Costume Designers, will hold a press meet in Mumbai later on Monday.

"Five bodies are coming together to make an appeal for freedom of expression for filmmakers. The industry is shocked and we are hurt that a filmmaker like Sanjay Leela Bhansali is being heckled and abused. Bhansali symbolises success of our film industry in many ways, and if he can be treated like this and harassed, things are not right, Ashoke Pandit, IFTDA President, told IANS.

He said their appeal is to the ministers to take note of the controversy and uphold the freedom of filmmakers.

"Nobody has seen the film, yet people are making assumptions and attacking and abusing Bhansali. Similar controversy happened around Indu Sarkar'. What will we do? We can't make films to suit everyone's ego. If someone doesn't want to watch the film, don't watch it. If someone doesn't want it to release, go to court, Pandit said.
