True. Even when we dress modestly too men will have a reason to tease us. It's like we can't go outside and have to stay at home always. Like why? We're humans too. As per them, we aren't allowed to have fun at all. -_-

True, we can't do a thing without contemplating whether we'll be judged. God knows how worse things are in some more conservative places. I don't understand why we doing what we want enrage men so much,we don't bat an eye when they live their life their way. Not like my skirt being short causes death due to poison and a girl smoking cigarettes causes more passive smoking effect than a guy smoking one 🥱

Oho Pakistan mein Mahira ki iss picture ko dekhke machi huyi hai khalbali. Just came from the comment section of Pinkvilla's Instagram.

One thing though- I have seen many Pakistani men smoke on PTV shows. Is it okay for them to smoke and wear Western clothes?

Also, smoking may be a health hazard but it in no way does it define a person's 'character'. All smokers/drinkers are not criminals/psychopaths.

I remember watching some outtakes of that show Mahira hosted where she asked for a smoke when Fawad Khan was the guest. Since they were outtakes not many people noticed it but I knew she smokes.

Looks like she will cop a LOT of shit for this in Pakistan. Nobody has much to say about Ranbir smoking, strangely. Mahira must be cursing Pinkvilla.

How fiercely I had defended Mahira earlier, when I first read the blind. (

I was fooled big 😆. Sometimes blinds can be true.

But I don't blame her for having Sanskari image, as Pakistani audience seems more conservative than India. (I knew she smokes). 20-30 years ago, even Bollywood actresses used to be hypocrites. Sridevi, Madhuri never spoke about their affairs till they got married. (Bold actresses like Puja Bhatt, never got their success).

Now people differentiate between reel and real people, so the actresses are more open.

I don't find any problem if Mahira is with a man. She is single. Can date anybody. But I find it problematic, if it is RK. 😆 RK has never shown protectiveness. If a girl gets stuck, she is left to fend for herself. (It happened with Katrina, when her bikini pictures got leaked. It was Salman, who was standing for her). Mahira should have been more careful, as she has to take care of her kid as well.

In this society, Kareena gets criticised for giving child to the nanny when she is walking. It does not take it kindly, if a mother leaves the child for a week to have fun. (RK does not seem like a person who can take the responsibility of a child). Then why did she take this huge risk?

An other misperception about Panistan. People need to make recent trips to see how things have changed but some things were always there --- even I was surprised.

Where smoking is concerned ... it's nothing. High Society smokes ... I'm talking about women here cause it's normal for men. HS or not. I'd be more disappointed if I catch her drinking but her being a celebrity wouldn't be surprised.

As a toddler, I attended Segals (high society) private school in Lahore ... I remember Segal women smoking. Didn't think much about it until now.

The only think I'm disappointed about is she is dating RK. Couldn't she find anyone better? Pakistanis in general are crazy about Ranbir Kapoor. I don't know why. Oh well.

Others have said it already...but just to reiterate. I don't think it's fair to expect her to not play a 'double game' in order to avoid facing public backlash. In fact, I suspect many of the women here do the same when they are amidst conservative crowds. Bravo to those who openly oppose the caretakers of saanskar but not everyone wishes to place themselves in an insecure (and sometimes dangerous) position when they have the means/finances to travel to other places where they feel safe enough to express themselves openly.
