No , it is not depressing movie at all. It is quiet entertaining. Entire theater was laughing at small incidences shown .

It does get you bit frustrated in the middle because you connect with Praful's character so much that you want to shake her and wake her up . Nothing depressing IMO.
Get 2-3 more opinions before you watch it.

SPOILER -

Movie ends on hilarious note, very different than normal BW movies and it did put a smile on my face.

After she surrendered, next scene they show him being taken by the cops suggesting she told on him since he was in possession of the stolen money.

P.S. - None of this happened in the real life incident though.

BOI figures are lower. Per Taran's as of last Thursday, it was already at 15.48.

After the weekend, it must have been near 17. Let's see what he posts.

Heard that the makers had already recovered the costs from various avenues prior to release as it was made on a very controlled budget. Theatrical revenue was only considered profit. So internally, no one is losing sweat over the BO outcome. They're comfortable. 😆

Per trade, it will be declared a flop.

she surrenders later , she hears he is being caught in the radio in the taxi . Maybe coz they tracked the stolen money and he was in possession.

FINALLY got to watch the movie. Busy schedule + far away theater = late movie watching. 😆
Simran. What do I say? First of all, this was a kangana ranaut show from start to finish. More than any other movie, even queen, not because other actors were lacking in comparison, but because of her sheer portrayal of praful. Rather than subtle change in rani's mentality, praful was much more in your face about her emotions, actions, wants, and needs. She was in a way a REAL 30 year old women, with a real need for independence. And god did Kangana make me root for praful despite her questionable decisions. You felt her fear and her happiness and you just lived with her.

Though, after my initial kangana gushing, I would say this film is much better than some reviews made it seem like. I thought it was a pretty meaty film in terms of content, yes the first half was solid and the second half did falter in terms of screenplay. But, even then overall, I would consider this work well done! And this is my first proper viewing of a hansal mehta film, and I have to say I love the realistic no holds barred world he portrays in his films. A lot of the locations seemed straight out of real life, instead of the glossed over karan johar style huge NYC building scenes. 😆 That made the narrative even more close to reality. The film also in my opinion needed better flow. But, otherwise, what a film! Despite the less than optimal Box office results, I'm glad kangana did this movie because the acting she has shown in this movie. My god. She is the finest actress of this generation and I'm glad simran is here to prove it. Other than that, as one of the commentators pointed out, this film definitely has ALOT of english dialogues, no wonder it's such firm multiplex film, and even then limited in its reach because the older generation might not speak or understand english. Though if they wanted to make the film realistic, which is pretty much hansal's USP then english was definitely non-negotiable. Just overall, It was solid watch, and I really ended up liking it despite its flaws. It definitely surpassed my expectations in contrast to certain reviews. And that last scene, LOLLL. That scene really made the ending for me, because here is an indian girl, who makes huge mistakes, and falters, but then has the guts to stand up again, imagine that! She is not hiding her head in shame and shying away from living life again. Of course, Praful would have to go through a lot of stuff past her prison stint and life is not definitely not going to bed of roses, but it shows that she has the drive to go on! And she so splendidly breaks the thinking that women has to be put on a pedestal, women can fall just like men and then get up just like men. That scene really brought across that message subtly for me, even if that might not have been the intention. Basically, this movie was a WORTH IT watch!

Ratings: 3.5 stars.

Finally posting my review.
I thought it was a good film. Its not as bad as the Critics made it out to seem 😕 I feel people have been unnecessarily harsh. I read in a lot of reviews taht the supporting characters were not fleshed out properly, I dont agree with that.

However at the same time...this film is not on the level of Queen or TWMR. That was on a different planet. Kangana's performance was good. But its does not outdo Queen or TWMR. As much as I love Kangana - this is not an award-worthy performance. IMO that still belongs to Sridevi for Mom.

Music of the film was not that great - needed better work!

Overall, not bad...there defiantly was someting missing in the film..i just cant put my finger on what exactly that may be. I'd rate a 7/10

Waited for your piece. Well written and yes, loved the flowed Praful.

I think it's her career best performance given the complexity and a one-woman show.

Really satisfied with her work this year. 👏
