I agree! If you forget she is the Aishwarya Rai we know and watch this video, she looks like an actress from the 60s/70s.

She has such a classic look. She would have given the likes of Madhubala a great takkar.

That doesn't mean I am undermining her contemporary works..she has done very well for herself. If you've followed her works across Tamil, Bengali, Hindi and English, she has done an inimitable job.

Of course acting is subjective but IMO she has given quite a lot of great and good performances (Guru, Provoked, HDDCS, Devdas, Raincoat, Chokher Bali, Kandukondain, Guzaarish, Jodhaa Akbar to name a few), along with bad ones (and which actor hasn't given bad performances? I'm not talking about Meryl Streep league here).

But that she was a top actress of our times and one among all-time top actresses is pretty much a fact.

Icon is entirely different from actress. She is an icon in term of beauty but not as an actress.

Salman who is terrible actor is an icon too, (Then he ain't a Top actor too according to you) so I don't get your point of "Icon in terms of beauty not as an actress".

She was pretty good in the ones you mentioned but when I watched Jazbaa and Sarabjith with the cringe worthy acting you will know how bad she is when it comes to performance oriented roles. She can easily do a simple Saba or Jodha but not the ones which require real acting.
