I don't know. I find this "Using this controversy to gain publicity for your film" argument too flimsy.
She didn't need any controversy to make Queen and TWMR work big time. All the controversy couldn't prevent Rangoon from being a disaster.
She's here talking about it because a film promotion is the only time she gets to give detailed interviews. She has a purpose to meet the media. She wouldn't just randomly give an interview and talk about it, that would seem so out of place and make her seem like she has nothing better to do and movies to work on.
Oh, and to add a couple of points.
Every star uses some or the other kind of controversy to promote their films. Planting fake blinds etc. Here at least Kangana is talking about her own life and her ordeal, so that's better than that.😆
Having said that, if it actually would make Simran work despite being a bad film (and that's a big IF), then also Kangana deserves it because she would need to make all the money back that she spent on her lawyers to fight her case. All the trauma and stress she's had to undergo, all the threats and intimidation she had to face. Simran working at the box office due to this controversy would be a very very small victory for her, considering how much she had put at stake here.
