Kriti Sanon is the latest actress to be
enjoying that phase. Apart from her acting
chops being recognized and her
performance praised in her latest release
Bareilly Ki Barfi, the film has been enjoying a
decent run at the box office. Now we have
just heard the actress (in a recent
development which took place on Sunday
night) may replace Taapsee Pannu, in the
remake of the Spanish thriller, The Invisible
Guest (2016), opposite John Abraham.
Says a trade source, "Truth is, that Taapsee
Pannu has not been signed as John
Abraham's leading lady in the movie as has
been reported. Talks were on with her but
before she was signed, talks started
between Kriti Sanon and chances are she
may soon be part of the film. It is about a
young businessman who gets accused of
the murder of his beautiful lover, a defense
attorney fighting his case, the arrival of a
new witness and a subsequent shocking
twist in the tale. Recently there were reports
that Taapsee was signed to play John's
beautiful mistress in the film but that has
not been confirmed. Now Kriti may play that
role.
However, in a recent turn of developments,
after some members of the creative team
saw Kriti's stellar performance in Bareilly Ki
Barfi, on Saturday night at a special
screening, things have changed for Taapsee.
The source adds, "The team came back
extremely impressed. They told John, who is
also the co-producer, that, Kriti has outdone
herself in the film and the actor-producer
appeared impressed when he told him. Kriti
is younger, more glamorous and prettier
than Taapsee in the film and fits the role
perfectly of the sexy and scheming mistress.
It's a role which has grey shades and it will
be interesting to watch Kriti in it. A quick
meeting and some conference calls took
place on Sunday night and now the film's
team and its debutante director Lakshya will
meet and give Kriti a narration this week
and then dates and remuneration will be
discussed.
The film will go on floors around December
this year.
