Another point I wanted to add.. When Amara calls Deva to come as her prisoner she says I am prepared to serve you as your servant for life but never will I come as a prisoner losing my dignity and self-respect and then is when Amara promises to guard her so Bhalla having a kid through Deva defies her basic character. Even though it was the man she loved she never gave up her honour and would she succumb to a vile man's force ?? She stayed back only because she wanted her son to rescue her, avenge her husband's death and save MM if not for these she would have joined Amara the day he died. If Bhalla tried to misbehave either she would have killed him or killed herself. That is a true Kshatriya woman. Death before dishonour.

as @ramkijanaki mentioned ,for bhalla,devasena was baahu's woman, technically his brother's (well I didn't want to say the word,but well since she mentioned it anyways, 'leftovers'.)he would just chain and torture her with words..because he knows baahu wouldn't have been in peace even after death seeing his beloved like this..and that thought gave bhalla immense satisfaction.
