The film is not scoring as well in HIndi as the last film though collections of the English version are better compared to the first two fulls of both films. Mysore is doing excellent business recording over 1 crore nett on the first three days and and a three day total of 3.40 crore nett which is similar to the collections in Delhi / UP.
Begum Jaan took a very dull opening considering it was a holiday. The occupancy was around 15-20% but its coming on a holiday for Good Friday and Ambedkar Jayanti and the collections are going to be poor even with the holiday factor, forget real value. The film is a remake of a Bengali film with the scenario changed from India - Bangladesh border to India - Pakistan border to make it more relevant to all India but if only film making was so easy. Changing the setting won't help much if the story does not relate to the wider audience. The problem for the film is that growth is going to be tough on day two due to the holiday on day one so really it has to put up a good or at least decent first day total which looks difficult.
The Punjabi film Manje Bistre took a bumper opening of 80-85% in Punjab and was very good in Delhi city. The film has benefited from the holiday though could have benefited even more if released on Thursday which was Vaisakhi but it was not censored in time. The film is easily beating Fast & Furious 8 in all centres of Punjab and Haryana barring Gurgaon and Faridabad and even in Delhi city it is beasting it at select multiplexes.
Between Fast & Furious 8 and Manje Bistre, Begum Jaan has practically been left as a no show in North India despite it being a holiday.
