So I am surprised people assume it's about rape... It's about a woman, an 18 yr old, a virgin perhaps 😉
singing about her (maybe first) and consensual and fun encounter...

phew!! like this explanation! :)

Most 90s songs had lot of double meaning.

I agree with Betty and DD's explaination that it is not about rape, it's about consensual hanky panky

I think we all need to remind ourselves that this song was released in the 1990s where words have different meanings than in the present time. I came across this explanation, and it hit the wall!

Someone on Tumblr/Wordpress did an excellent job explaining this.

EVERY culture out there has a song like this. Usually, they are old folk songs, and the main thing to remember is that they are NOT describing rape. You have to keep in mind that back then (heck, even now), an unmarried girl who had sex could never admit it was something she wanted. All the "lost apples" and "withering green leaves" in those songs are symbols of losing virginity. There is often a theme of "the bas***d deceived me oh how poor am I" also. In these songs, the girl (or a narrator) describes her sexual encounter, and she insists it was not her wish because then she would be ruined in society.

A song like these does not propagate or glorify rape. They are meant to be mischievous and teasing, hinting that the girl is not as half as innocent as she seems to be. (That is also why Channe Ke Khet Mein is sung at a WEDDING to a blushing bride).

Example (a bad translation of a song FOR KIDS here in CZ) (this one is a guy singing about having a one night stand with a girl):

A nice road to Budjice, though a bit narrow,

if only the lords would allow, I know of a nice girl over there.

I did got there, I slept well, in the morning she closed the door

to keep me there.

I will not stay, I am going home,

to care for my horses. (da f**k man?)

Furthermore, such songs were made at a different time when people were not that aware of the rape culture. Yes, songs like that have become problematic when it comes to lyrics, but you do have to take everything that have been written about and more into account.

Never thought of it that way, it was/is a very popular song ...may be that time no-one really bothered about the lyrics of the songs but as everyone said that it can be interepreted in many ways.
