'Do we belong here?' asks wife of Hyderabad techie shot dead by American

HOUSTON: The wife of Indian engineer Srinivas Kuchibhotla, who was shot dead in an apparent hate crime by a Navy veteran at a bar in Olathe city, has said that she had her doubts about staying in the US but was assured by her husband that "good things happen in America".

Speaking at a news conference organised by GPS-maker Garmin where Srinivas worked, Sunayana Dumala said reports of bias in the US make minorities afraid as she questioned "do we belong here".

She said she now wonders what will the US government do to stop hate crimes against minorities.

Dumala said she was concerned about shootings incidents in America and had doubted whether they should stay in the country, but her husband said that assured her saying that "good things happen in America."

Ofcourse live in constant fear remembering nationalism, patriotism is terrible, it's the last refuge of scoundrels, forgetting the saying 'Religion is the last refuge of scoundrels' and 'Religion is the last refuge of human savagery'

When religious people have made your life living hell, very unsafe or atleast considerably less safe, we're not even supposed to mention that and behave like everything is A-OK and normal, we're not supposed be wary of them, otherwise we're stereotyping, being -phobic...

But now if we say no reason to live in fear then we're being arrogant, we're thinking we're superior to others, theses thing will not happen to us... They say "how dare you not stereotype"

We're not even suppose to ask them where were they all these years when other Indians were being killed or attacked in USA and other parts of the world

How devious!

^^^Why are you getting so hyper and touchy? A wrong done by someone else somewhere else and an innocent man and his family pay for it. Thats the issue at hand here. The more hate you encourage...the more hatred it will spread in the world and consume innocents like Srinu and his family. I am surprised to see a "it had to happen" stance over here from someone. Why did it have to happen?

There you go again. it's okay for you to say I am encouraging and spreading hatred in the world?

Whoa, if somebody disagrees with you and the likes of you they are being hyper and touchy spreading hate and we're responsible for death of innocents like Srinu? Really?

Is it okay to accuse a member here of spreading hate and being responsible for Srinu's death? Are personal attacks like this okay?

Who said it has to happen? It shouldn't happen just like terrorism and any kind of killing should never happen

Is it an effort to shut down anybody who disagrees with you - by demonizing them?

I was responding to some posts here vilifying those who disagree... What's your problem?

It's a very vile and vicious thing to say that I or anybody here is spreading hatred and causing Srinu's death, very vicious.

That is what happens when you encourage politics of hate and bring such vile people to power. The hardliner rightist approach to outsiders and xenophobia has claimed its first life. I don't expect anything from the administration either. Dunno how many more innocent lives would be claimed similarly for the administration to take some concrete actions.

I hope God gives enough strength to his family and may his soul rest in peace.
