There is more hype surrounding Alia. She is loved and appreciated for her talent and considered the best of her generation(though that's also due to a lack of competition)

On ground and in terms of mass popularity Varun I think, with the classes and in terms of media hype Alia. Overall I would say equally popular but in different ways. Both have done well, lets not turn this into a fan war or pit them against each other.

Alia is more popular thanks to her mentor KJO. Varun is more known overseas after Dilwale though(I live outside of India so speaking from experience). Alia is starting to be known a bit more overseas now after Dear Zindagi though

Alia is still to gather a 7cr+ opening without help of an A-list actor.I wont get fooled by critics well fed and brainwashed by Kjo) hype or easily influenced media rankings.She is female version of Ranveer Singh for me.Star power should show at ticket window not on mag cover/newspapers.Varun is clearly ahead in mass centres and overseas.Alia can only pose a threat at multiplexes since she keep on doing new age romcoms.

Well I was the one who called out her terrible looks.Not qualified enough to be called as Varun fanatic as I am not on twitter chanting his name/promoting movies.Just like his work in few movies but not loyal enough to hype everything he does😆.Since actresses from PC to DP to Anu to Pari are called out for flat chest,skeleton-ish fig,repetitive expressions,no grace & more reasons here Alia should be no exception.

And why Alia should not be pitted against Varun? lets not impose shipper's thought of them being a single powerful unit on others..😆Its just Vd's teen base going crazy on "Varia" being new SRK-Kajol.I doubt it would have made diff to others if Alia was cast in ABCD2 or Badlapur instead of Shradha/Yami
