Music nowadays is inspired heavily from the west. BW songs lack originality and most songs are copied, either from international artists or remixed from the 90s.
You rarely hear any classical or folk music.

If you notice, nowadays many songs are just sung by the music directors themselves (Vishal, Shekhar, Amit Trivedi, etc). None of them are particularly talented but it is easy to mask flaws thanks to software. But that also means that the singing often lacks depth and richness in terms of range and notes.

I wish there was a balance between Indian music, traditional instruments and western kind music. Personally I don't have prejudices against both western and Indian. What matters to me is that efforts are made to put soul in a composition and its original; as far as possible. I love flute, sitaar and all, tabla etc too. What I dislike is extreme opinion and stand. To be rigid for only one form of music. I don't know why producers, directors and music directors don't experiment or use Indian music too. If asked I am sure they ll say audiences now don't like it. I disagree. They don't give viewers a choice now. Besides there is audience of every genre. Also, earlier there was no interference in music, choice of singer. Now there is. I think in today's generation only A R Rehman can compose such songs.

not only rehman ..they should bring back all old composers too

Agree. Rajesh Roshan, even Anu Malik is better than most of today's composers, Nadeem shravan,Ismail Darbar, etc. I love Shantanu Moitra also.

P.S.: You posted a song from Tum Bin, what an album. 😃 Still in love with each of its song.

Anu malik was a versatile composer he made tradtional songs as well as modren day songs like sau dard hain , humko maloom hai isqh masoom hai to just love me , jeene ke hain char din, maria maria of salman khan

but i guess this song of him with sonu will be in the list of top 10 bollywood songs from the 60's till now ...its of that level such a great combination of voice lyrics composition and instruments
