I saw the movie last night and I was left disappointed. SRK was great. After a while, I felt I could genuinely say I enjoyed his performance throughout...BUT, wow the plot? screeplay? execution? direction? what a drag. I felt the film just dragged and dragged. Very poorly directed. The supporting cast was decent...but the film is SRK all the way. The music was alright...nothing to write home about. I feel at one point I was zoning out 😆. I felt the director couldn't really keep the audience intrigued or engaged. I don't even know what else to comment on. 😆

It seems like the character was well liked by the people.. Most people loved SRK being in this form..

But they felt the film wasnt executed as well as it should have been. Givenly that director got too overwhelmed by SRK star power.

Going by the official numbers (which matter to me personally in this case simply because of unfair means being used by other party), Raees whould have crossed 145 cr by end of Sunday! It was at 137 by end of Saturday. 🥳

I disagree here slightly! I think the person who deserves a lot of credit is Rahul! Yes for me Shahrukh's performance in Raees will be counted in the list of some of his best performances but the blend between commercial and cinema that's grounded in reality is I feel due to the way Rahul directed the movie. It's I think evident that Zaalima was added on later as one did see Mahira thanking Rahul for allowing that song and Shahrukh himself has mentioned that some of the songs are there to make it more commercial. Zaalima is topping the charts man so I'm not surprised they incorporated that in the movie. After watching it twice, you realize as to how realistic the film really is. At the core it's this intense, gritty film which makes a lot of poignant statements especially considering the times we're living in. For me Rahul, the folks who wrote the dialogues deserve a whole lot of acclaim for their work in Raees. The direction also matters when it comes to the performances. All the performances make an impact yet are very understated. I feel Shahrukh to some extent is a director's actor, he can go OTT if that's what the script and director demands such as in CE and he can also give this layered, understated performance as we saw in FAN, Dear Zindagi and Raees now.
