@Taify Yes, cisgender is someone whose either a man or a woman. So, they cannot be a transgender. Cisgender is actually a judgemental derogatory term so forget that word.
@CP. Ah I'd love to see something like that in BW.
And also on vigilantes.

Honestly, hoping for such subjects is futile. Indian audience is too one-track-mind and lives for characters to hold morality at the upmost. People want normal characters that they can relate to.

In The Danish Girl, he cheats on his wife as a woman. Cheating. The word is enough to make people stay away from theatres.

They have not done something mainstream like Bol (Pakistani movie) about being transgender.
Also, I do not think there has been a film on Interracial relationships.

@Raj: Our loss.

I would love to see a Bollywood tribute s such as "Singing in the Rain", cross cultural parallel love stories, movie adaptation of old folk lore including Ramayana and Mahabharata, disaster movie in water, a hard core action movie with multiple stars, movie where people are caught between disaster and thieves in single place and how they outwit both and survive, Partition movie where people are lost and meet again, Good old fashioned estate horror movie, detective story for adults, female only thriller movie.

Good ideas but not 'Singing in the rain' which is not only a great musical, great comedy, songs, unbelievable choreography and all around fun movie with superstars of golden era... If anybody is interested in seeing how movies transitioned from silent to talkies this movie shows you in a fun way... How is BW going to make something like that?

All other ideas have been touched by BW except disaster movies in water, you mean like a titanic remake?

Even Singing in the rain - that song where he sings and dances in the rain has been copied million times in BW movies, so that's BW's tribute :-)

I think I understand now what Cisgender means... It's what used to be considered 'default' or 'normal' in the past

It is not a derogatory or offensive term... It is considered a PC term but also used by medical academics since 1990s in transgender studies

For e.g. when a child is born and the mama and/or the nurse takes one look at the baby and says it's a boy and the child identifies as a boy/man for the rest of his life he's a cisgender... same goes for girl

Bollywood is afraid to take on any 'controversial' subject and when they do, they treat it with kid gloves.

Example:

Firaaq dealing with the Gujarat Riots seemed like it was scared to accuse anyone.
Amu with the Sikh Genocide hardly showed the truth.
Legend of Bhagat Singh & Bose showed Gandhi in a slight negative light but didn't go all out.

Either don't take on controversial subjects, and if you do, just go all out presenting the facts.

@Betty: I used "Singing in the rain" as a example of light tribute movie. OSO is perhaps Indian version. But I would like Bollywood to dig deeper. Go back to show what hard work was necessary to build this industry and acknowledge the unsung heroes and also entertain us.

Actually, this subject has been touched many times, but in a skewed way. Showcasing independent woman being smart, successful and getting a sane partner.
Our stories most often depict such ladies either (a) arrogant and clueless about life (because that's what independence is equated to) (b) losing their men to demure doormats (coz that she the epitome of character for women) (c) wastinng their life with drinking and promiscuity (again, that's what independent women in real life do ) (d) they die of cancer or other unspeakable things because they are not God fearing demure doormats.

That's not really possible in a country like India which is a sub continent with multiculturalism, multi religion they cannot offend or anger anybody

Even in HW where anything goes, where there seems to be a competition on who can make more sicker, offensive movies but when it comes to a certain important topic they don't breathe a word and follow self-censorship... That's baffling bcz they don't have to fear anybody or anything like in India
