You have to give it to them. Sonam Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan (so many Ks, Johar would be proud) are pretty amazing. Among other things, Sonam has the fine balance between being a fashion icon and an successful, critically acclaimed actress. And Kareena, is a true-blue movie star. She's been around for over 16 years, and is still roaring to go (with a trending baby in tow). Together, they made Koffee with Karan very entertaining. Kareena and Sonam Kapoor. Refreshingly, it's not a Mean Girls vibe, but a inspiring, fun one. Kareena spoke about being a Koffee legend, through her appearances on the couch with various co-stars, boyfriends, brother and Saif. Sonam was not-so-subtly reminded about her past rather candid appearances, with Deepika Padukone and father Anil Kapoor. Kareena sat on the Koffee couch comfortably and spoke about Hollywood; how she has no interest in going anywhere, with peace and best wishes towards Priyanka, Deepika and now Sonam. On being asked what she would do if she was stuck with Shahid Kapoor and Saif in an elevator, Kareena said she wished she was cast in Rangoon: "Lets call Vishal". Winning moment of the show as far as Kareena is concerned was saying "I'm not ranking these boys now, at this point (while pointing towards her baby)," on being asked to rank actors Varun Dhawan, Ranveer Singh, Ranbir Kapoor, Sidharth Malhotra, Sushant Singh Rajput, during the Rapid Fire round. Speaking of rapid fire, Sonam Kapoor was a lot more diplomatic and rehearsed, as far as personal life and working in Bollywood is concerned, which includes admiring Alia Bhatt's work in Udta Punjab, claiming she didn't do Neerja for the awards, and how he life has changed after the movie. She also about equal pay for actors and actresses in the industry. Not rapid, no fire. Arjun Kapoor then joined them to pronounce Kareena the winner of the round, for the third time in this season. There was also some talk about Karishma Kapoor wanting Sonam to marry Ranbir. Could it be conjecture (pun intended) or could it be promotion for their upcoming film, Rajkumar Hirani's Sanjay Dutt biopic? Karan Johar starts the show with a warning that both his guests tonight are nothing but gossipmongers. Yes, this week Karan Johar's couch was graced by the gossip queen Kareena Kapoor Khan and style diva Sonam Kapoor. Unlike rest of the episodes, this one started with mutual admiration between the actors and the director but soon we were served gossip, fresh off the stove.
Kareena, who appeared with her baby bump (since the episode was shot before Taimur Ali Khan was born), was asked if she was trying to be an icon for working/contemporary women by being busier during pregnancy, to which she very gracefully said, "I am not making a point but doing what I want."
Karan reveals how Kareena is a big Jagga Jasoos, always stalking people's airport look. Terming the actor a pregnant stalker,' Karan revealed how Kareena ridicules his fashion sense by sending him his airport looks with a question mark. He also hinted that he is not the only one in Bollywood who gets this treatment from Saif's begum.
But the actual conversation started when Kareena was asked about Bollywood actor's exploring Hollywood. Kareena lauded Priyanka Chopra and said that she would not have the same courage and is happy being in Bollywood. "I am happy actors are leaving for Hollywood (giggles). I feel what Priyanka has done, I don't think everyone has the courage and passion. I do not have. For Deepika, I have no idea but I am sure she will do well. Priyanka does make India proud. She conducts herself really well in interviews." Just to remind you, Kareena once did not share good vibes with Priyanka, and this goes back to their Aitraaz days. In fact, the two actors had sort of war of words on an earlier season of Koffee With Karan when Kareena had questioned where Priyanka got her accent from and the Quantico star replied on a later episode that she got it from the same place as Saif Ali Khan.
Sonam agreed with her Veere Di Wedding co-star Kareena, and said, "Priyanka has been very articulate. She is doing very good. I watch Quantico and she is doing really well."

Giving her opinion on Deepika, Sonam said when they appeared together on Karan's show some years back, she did not know her, which hasn't changed even today. "I don't know her at all. The proper conversation I had with her was on the couch. When somebody asks me who do I prefer in terms of actors, I prefer Priyanka but that doesn't mean I don't like Deepika. She is doing great and I find her beautiful but I am too occupied."
Sonam revealed that Karan had a problem with her necklines once upon a time, which made Kareena check hers on the show. He also spoke about her rumoured relationship with a businessman to which the actor, said, "I am always dating a businessman from London. For me personal life is sacred and I don't like to talk about it." There are rumours that Sonam is currently dating Anand Ahuja, a businessman.
On the same page, Kareena spoke about her relationship with Saif. The actor is definitely smitten by her husband. "There is no one like him. The mental and physically sexy is not possible. The combination is very rare now. He is last of such generation." and Sonam totally agreed with the Ki and Ka actor.

Later the Neerja actor spoke about how Karisma Kapoor, Bebo's sister, has also spoken about a love angle between her and Ranbir Kapoor, but Sonam thinks she can't keep him happy. Well yes! "Ranbir and I are very good friends. Our families are very close and we are fond of each other families. I don't think I can make him happy. And I think, we will just be good friends."
Later, Kareena said her relationship with Ranbir hasimproved because of her husband. "In last two-three years, as a family, we have grown very close. Saif loves Ranbir because of which we became really good friends."

No points for guessing, the current season's brand ambassador, Arjun Kapoor made an entry this time too. He was the "jury" for the rapid-fire round. He has become the mascot of Karan's show ever since season five started. The actor spoke about how Kareena is a gossip queen and how she, Ranbir and Karan Johar know everything that happens in the Bollywood town, even before anybody else. Arjun said Sonam pretended to be a very mild child but she is actually a wild child. He picked Kareena as the winner of the rapid-fire, making her take home the Koffee hamper for the third time in a row. It was also Sonam's third lost in a row. The episode definitely proved why Sonam still needs to shed her diplomatic face and turn sassy and funny like Kareena.

In the episode that aired this Sunday (January 14), it was hilarious to see Karan accusing Kareena of being a pregnant stalker since she is always in the know of things. Right from tracking her industry friends' airport looks to the rumours and gossip that surrounds them, there is nothing that Kareena is not aware of.
Karan also went on to call her a Jagga Jasoos. He talked about how Kareena ridicules his fashion sense by sending him his airport looks with a question mark. Goes without saying, there are many others who come under the fire for their fashion blunders by the actress.

And this was not all. Kareena backfired by including Karan and Ranbir in the gang of gossip-mongers as well. This observation was further validated by Arjun Kapoor, who appeared as a jury on the show. Arjun went on to say that Kareena is running the film industry as she, Karan and Ranbir know everything beforehand.
After the madness of this one, the next episode of Koffee with Karan will see Quantico star Priyanka Chopra. The show airs every Sunday at 9 pm on Star World and Star World HD.

If you were to remake Gossip Girl in India, who would you pick to play the parts? There was a time when Kareena Kapoor Khan and Sonam Kapoor would have been a perfect choice for the roles, but the latest episode of Koffee with Karan 5 has a different story to tell. The two actresses were on Karan Johar's show. Interestingly, the episode was taped a month ago, but was only aired tonight. There were reports that the episode came out to be so boring that makers decided to delay its airing. Well, after watching the episode, you will know that there can be a lot of truth to this story.


Kareena and Sonam were a misfit to share the couch to unimaginable heights. You literally can edit out all the chunks of Sonam Kapoor from the episode, and it won't hamper it in anyway. Sonam carried herself with poise - or we should say an overdose of poise. It is one thing to abstain from gossip, whole other to behave as if you are Mother Teresa invited to a kitty party. Kareena also has definitely toned down her fire since her previous appearances. She appeared to be guarded, but also more graceful than Sonam - and probably because she was not trying too hard for that. A solo episode featuring Kareena could just have been a better idea. Sonam could have been a better fit with someone brings out the best in her. Maybe her sister Rhea Kapoor! Or better, ex-friend Deepika Padukone.

We thought Kareena is coming along with her Veere Di Wedding co-star and good friend. It came as a big revelation that she instead picked her spokesperson to tag along with. Yep! We are still talking about Sonam Kapoor. The Neerja actress took a few turns to answer on Kareena's behalf and it was irritating. When Karan questioned Kareena on her true blue attitude, before she could say anything, Sonam jumped in and answered, "I don't think so that's true. I don't think so it comes from that sense of superiority. It comes from the fact that they are both working a lot, they have their families, they have their own lives...". Before she can go on, Karan stopped her. You can almost sense Kareena sarcastically reply that what Sonam said is indeed the reason.

Kareena while answering a question in Rapid Fire Round, Kareena says that she is happy that everyone is catching the bus to Hollywood. Sonam interrupts, "Bus nahi! Plane se ja rahe hain!".
