Did kashibai save BM?

Bajiroa Mastani was SLB's dream project that thanks to Ranveer and Deepika he could bring it on the screen. The movie was sumptuous, well acted and had its moments under the sun. But it also had iffy subject of infidelity that no sane women will appreciate in modern world. So the question is did Priyanka's hot chemistry with Ranveer supersede Ranveer's chemistry with Deepika. And since Bajiroa was married to kashibai the situation somehow became more tolerable than if Bajiroa mastani chemistry had run super hot. Did it help that mastani was somehow subdued and pale while kashibai was more bold and full of life. With BM finishing 1 year I thought I should ask this question.

It is revisionist bullshit.
Bajirao Mastani became a hit because it had a hit pair Deepika-Ranbir, SLB's grand production value and most importantly the underdog factor in the clash.

Yes Priyanka acted better and Deepika was quite bland, but no way Priyanka saved the movie, Priyanka was never a BO draw.

Dilwale saved BM... The clash hype was crazy... And dilwale was super crappy... So BM became a masterpiece by default

Ranveer's and Priyanka's wonderful acting and clash with Dilwale saved the movie.

Priyanka was the only reason I watched the movie! Had a feeling right from the trailer that she would steal the show, most people on this forum did. I think she was great as Kashibai... she made the movie worth watching for me. Now I just watch her scenes. So yes, she saved the film IMO

I like only Kashi and dewaani song in BM.

Why PC could not save Jai Gangajal then? She might be a good actress. But Kanshibai's character is director's vision.

SAVE BM?

Dilwale clash & RS-Pc's acting definitely saved BM because DP was really bland as Mastani. She had none of the finesse & Grace that One would associate with Mastani. She looked exquisite as Mastani but brought none of the Meera-like devotion that I feel SLB wanted to portray through her.


PC was excellent as Kaashi, the nuances & chemistry she had with RS was excellent! Their chemistry was sizzling! I hope to see them in more roles with more shades. For me, RS-PC are the only ones who made BM & I loved PC even more than RS in BM. <3
