So he's saying it in terms of popularity his dearest son's contemporaries as in competition is only those two Khan..SRI to bass awayin hain.
Such a loser. .His son hardly gets out of his "jadoo" mood since KMG happened, living on those stupid special effects type movies not his father talking crap.

RR frequently trips over his tongue in English. I think he meant SRKs contemporaries are Aamir and Salman - repeating what Sanjay Gupta said. Meaning SRK should not feel good with less than 300 cr (like his contemporaries), whereas Hrithik will be fine with a 100 cr film.
Incidentally I don't know budget but Kaabil was filmed in (for HR) record time, entirely in Mumbai (no costly locations) without special effects so probably is truly inexpensive production in general. Inexpensive leading lady and supporting cast plus Hrithik will probably have deferred his payment in lieu of profit sharing (home production he ultimately gets it either way). All should equal much lower budget than Raees.

Papa forgot to mention Akki by the way

First, I too hope RR stops talking to the press when angry😆
This is Rakesh Roshans film. It's his money on the line too so it's not just a father fighting for his son, it is a filmmaker fighting for his film. So Kangus quote is (still) not on point.

I believe his quote is misunderstood. It's badly worded - no doubt but please read it again with the assumption he means SRKs contemporaries are Aamir and Salman. It makes much more sense. That is why he's talking about their films being at or close to 300 cr (which he thinks SRK should be shooting for) followed by saying Hrithik's is a smaller film that will be fine at 100 cr. Plus he is basically saying (trying anyway) to say exactly what Sanjay Gupta said in the other disastrous interview - clearly they have talked about this.

I thought it was completely stupid for Sanjay to say and don't like it from RR either but ... there it is.

Sorry for multiple posts but I just saw Rakesh Roshan clarify. He said, "I also told him (SRK) Hrithik is not your contemporary. Your contemporaries are Salman Khan and Aamir Khan who have already crossed 300 crores."

Still not a great quote but he is NOT claiming Aamir and Salman are Hrithik's contemporaries but SRKs.

by that logic Aamir(1984) and SRK(1992) r not contemporaries just like SRK(1992) and Hrithik(2000) 😆...
