Jhanvi Kapoor is set to be launched in Bollywood by Karan Johar and Sridevi wants her to follow the trajectory of KJo's star protege Alia Bhatt

All mothers have big dreams for their children and if you are Sridevi, those plans naturally involve Bollywood superstardom.

Sridevi's elder daughter Jhanvi Kapoor is set to foray into Bollywood and her launch vehicle will be steered by none other than tinsel town's biggest starmaker Karan Johar.

Karan is mentor to Alia Bhatt who is ruling the roost with her turn in Dear Zindagi, which has won over both critics and the audiences.

And if sources are to be believed, then Sridevi wants her daughter to be the next Alia.

Given that she herself was the queen bee in Bollywood for over a decade, Sridevi is now leaving no stone unturned to make sure that Jhanvi shoots to the A-list with her debut.

She is grooming her 19-year-old's appearance and teaching her how to conduct herself with industry wallahs. And with her debut growing closer, she has even started giving her acting lessons.

A source told SpotboyE.com, "Sridevi understands that today's audiences are looking beyond just a pretty face, they want someone who has solid acting skills."

Sridevi has come to this conclusion after studying Alia's career. She played a glamorous role in her debut Student Of The Year but then proved herself as an actress in her next, Highway.

Alia's career has since then been a roll-call of hits, from Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhaniya to the latest Dear Zindagi.

And interestingly once Jhanvi is launched in Bollywood, she will be in direct competition with Alia herself.

The other queen bees like Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra and Anushka Sharma are not in the same age bracket and Alia is the star in the under-25 category.

And Sridevi wants her daughter to be the biggest name in the game. Jhanvi, thus has a tough road ahead given that comparisons will be drawn between her and her star mother.

Sridevi was the glamorous diva who ruled the box-office in the '80s and '90s and also established herself as a powerhouse performer.

With her as coach, Jhanvi is sure to learn all the tricks of the trade. And she also has Karan as her mentor. So what will he do to bolster Jhanvi's chances? The ball is now in Karan's court.
