I am surprised that Adi did not use some thing like this for trailer. What was the point in alienating so many potential audience by that trailer. Why couldn't he have used this balance?

If this was Hollywood, I would have thought Adi was considering Befikre as a tax write off movie for YRF. It might still work but no thanks to Adi.

To produce flop movie that could balance a monster hit. It is kind of filmy money laundering.

Say if your production company had a huge hit and you are sitting on pile of money. Everyone knows it. Especially income tax people.Then you make a movie that you think is sure to be a flop. You do everything in your power to alienate audience. Never go the extent of bashing your own movie. That would be dangerous. Just be subtle.

When the movie is flop, cry you lost so much money. Add few crores to original budget that were part of monster hit but really not used in this movie. The money is washed and dried.

There is a Hollywood movie called " Producer" if you are interested in this concept. Ganguly brothers (Kishore) tried to do this with Bengali movie and it became monster hit. So they had to pay even more taxes. It is not 100% fool proof plan. 😊
