The BIGGEST clash of the year is here. Ranbir Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Anushka Sharma and Fawad Khan's Ae Dil Hai Mushkil clashes with Ajay Devgn, Erika Kaar and Sayyeshaa Saigal's Shivaay this Friday and we expect it to be a HUGE fight. Yes, both the movie have a huge hype surrounding their release and while we are excited to see both the movies, our trade experts reveal to us that both the movies are still fighting to get more screens for themselves. We revealed to yesterday itself that Ae Dil Hai Mushkil has got more screens than Shivaay (according to BookMyShow). And now that the advance booking for both - Shivaay and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil are open, we wanted to know which film has an edge in advance bookings.
So we rung up our trade expert - Akshaye Rathi (exhibitor and distributors) and he confirmed to us that Ae Dil Hai Mushkil has beaten Shivaay in the advance booking race. Akshaye mentioned to us EXCLUSIVELY, "The good thing about this Diwali is that both the films (Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Shivaay) are very clearly demarcated in terms of the audience they cater too. Ae Dil Hai Mushkil is a very multiplex, urban-youth film, while Shivaay is a mass entertainer, which is very single screen friendly. Traditionally, if you see the big advance booking figures come from the multiplexes and the urban-centres. So, the advance booking figures will indicate that Ae Dil Hai Mushkil has an edge over Shivaay."
But does this mean that Ae Dil Hai Mushkil will have a greater opening than Shivaay? The answer is NO! As Akshaye explains, "Mass films like Shivaay always depend on current bookings. And hence, the advance booking figures do not really indicate the true picture of what the day one figures will be like for either of the films. Just because of the simple reason that you do not expect the single screen, small-town audience to go to a BookMyShow or Paytm to book tickets. They come on the day, they pick up the tickets and walk in. So going by the buzz that both the films have, I am sure both the films will have an equal opening and will do very well amongst the audience they are catering too." Akshaye also adds that both the films will do well and will get nearly the same number of screens, when he mentioned, "Both the films should get about 3000 screens pan-India. Having said that I think 70 per cent of Ae Dil Hai Mushkils business will be from multiplexes and 70 per cent of Shivaays business will probably happen out of single screens. Again coz of the audience they cater too. So I think it is going to a Happy Diwali for everyone as there is some film for everybody to watch."
