I have not really focused on Bollywood prior to the mid-90s. However for me, the worst time in BW was that period between 2008-2011...all sorts of dull films came out during this time

I don't agree with eveybody calling 80s a bad era. It had its ups and downs but for the most part, it was good in terms of entertainment.

So many good films were made that time e.g. Ram Lakhan, Mr India, Parinda, Tridev, Tezaab, Arjun, Yudh, Hero & Meri Jung. You also had Maine Pyar Kiya, Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, Shaan, Coolie, Naam & Disco Dancer as well.

I think todays era is rubbish in terms of Rom Com and silly songs e.g. party & rap. Things like that are a disgrace to Bollywood. Plus, none these actors from the new generation aren't great. It's ridiculous when people say that they will be in that same position in the future like the Khans are right now.

This decade, baring a few exceptions. However, this decade also has the most intelligent movies that come out once in a while so I suppose it can be seen in another way as well. I mean I would never expect a 'Ship of Theseus' or 'Waiting' or 'Piku' or 'Wazir' before this decade. So while the mediocrity has gone lower, the intelligence has gone a notch higher as well.

90s-00s had awesome movies, mostly. Filmy with way too many songs, but good ones nevertheless. And the songs more than made up for it too.

Edit: I haven't watched many movies prior to that. For some reason, I can't stand 80s-early 90s with all that loud over the top acting and dancing. Not my type.

I can't say I have seen an 80's film I liked yet. Will keep searching though. I feel today's films (even Hollywood) are a hit or miss for me. More miss than anything. 90's had a few good ones but nothing special. 00's was not very memorable for me.
