We bet that this newest statement by Priyanka Chopra at the Emmy Awards 2016 might land her in yet another controversy.
Priyanka's Emmy outing got a thumbs up from the fashion police. The actress donned a red hot gown by Canadian designer Jason Wu. The red lips and minimal make-up completed the look. Yes, PC stole everybody's thunder with that sexy twirl on the red carpet.
Not so long ago the actress found herself amidst controversy when she dismissed the term woman of colour' in an interview. In a chat with Refinery29 the actress said, "I know everything is about diversity right now. But I think it should be about humanity. It's 2016. It's so easy to separate ourselves and become smaller and smaller pieces of humanity. I don't like the phrase woman of color.' I feel like that puts women in a box. I'm a woman, whether I'm white, black, brown, green, blue, or pink " whatever. I think we need to start looking beyond that. It would be a big win for women, period."
Before that the actress in an interview had revealed that she'd "beat the shit out of her man" if he ever cheated on her. The actress was labelled violent' and sexist'. The actress also made headlines when she said -"I don't say things just because I'm a feminist and I believe in woman power. That word (feminist) has been bas***dized; there's no respect to it anymore. I'm not berating men".
That's not all this year the actress produced her first ever Bhojpuri film. And even this movie was embroiled in controversy and many felt that the actress was being a part of a project that objectified women and played to stereotypes. Bam Bam Bol Raha Hai Kashi,which was produced under her banner was labelled "vulgar". In an interview to DNA, National Award winner director Nitin Chandraa had slammed Priyanka, he said, "At a time when my mother tongue Bhojpuri is fighting for its existence, Priyanka has not only defamed herself but also besmirched her Padma Shri award by producing a movie like this."
We wonder with Priyanka now labeling Indian dance as all about hips' and boobs' if she will find herself amidst another storm?
