Well, that's a bit surprising considering how big a hit the Kala Chashma song was... everything was going for the film.. the music, the fresh pairing, young stars Sid and Katrina, the genre (romance), the production house, decent trailer..

"Baar Baar Dekho" hit screens on Sept. 9, and as per early estimates the Sidharth Malhotra, Katrina Kaif-starrer may beat the opening day collection of "Airlift," "Kapoor and Sons" and "Fitoor." The Nitya Mehra-directorial will hopefully make the most of Eid-Al-Adha, which falls on Sept. 12, Monday and is a partial holiday.
"Baar Baar Dekho" is likely to collect somewhere in between Rs. 12-13 crore at the domestic box office on day 1. While Akshay Kumar's "Airlift" minted Rs. 12.5 crore, Sidharth's "Kapoor and Sons" and Katrina's "Fitoor" earned Rs. 6.85 crore and Rs. 3.61 crore, respectively at the Indian box office on the first day.

The occupancy report of "Baar Baar Dekho" wasn't impressive at first, but it showed a considerable growth through the day. In a few circuits, it witnessed 25 percent occupancy, which shot up with the evening and late night shows. The film is expected to perform well at multiplexes in metropolitan cities such as Mumbai, New Delhi, Bangalore and Kolkata among others.
Released in over 2,000 screens (approx.) and made on a budget of Rs. 50 crore, "Baar Baar Dekho" will recover more than half of its production cost in the opening weekend itself. Trade experts say, the film is likely to post Rs. 30 crore or more in its first weekend.
However, with mixed response from critics and audiences alike, the film may find it difficult to grow over the weekend. Also, another threat is "Freaky Ali," which released on the same day and may pick up if it receives positive word of mouth.
"Baar Baar Dekho" is crucial for Katrina if she wishes to reclaim the numero-uno spot and rule Bollywood like she did before "Phantom" bombed at the box office. Also, it will give us an idea if Sidharth can carry a film on his shoulders all by himself; "Hasee Toh Phasee" is his only film where he was the solo male lead.

It shows kat has lost its BO pull.. sad bt bitter truth. Sid is also behind in newcomers with this debacle even arjun is ahead of him bcz HG will be big hit anyways n sid nxt project are risky..

I can't believe that BBD opened the same as KI&Ka and K&S.

I didnt really believe that Kala chashma was more liked than High heels and Ladki beautiful.

If kala chashma is indeed such a big hit..then the opening of BBD would have been really low without it.
