So he needs help because he is talking to his mother because she's dead or else it would be normal to talk to a mother on dinner table. So are you saying once a parent is dead it's over between them and their kids? A mother always looks out for her children long past when she is dusted and done. If he is reaching out to her at times of distress and pours his heart out and they share a special connection not yet defined by modern science is that tantamount to crazy?

Boss - I am a mother and when I am dead , I don't want my son to have conversation with me. He can remember what Intaught him, can send a thanks note or love you note , in his head, but not speak to me as if I was sitting across dinning table.
