What kinda name is Gauranga?
Gauranga is a popular name in Bengalis and in some other Indian states too.
Bengalis refer to Chaitanya Mahaprabhu as Sri Gauranga,(1486-1534) who was a saint of the Bhakti movement.
Gauranga is a term popularized by the Hare Krishna movement in the 1970s. It is derived from Sanskrit gaurga (Devanagari) "having a white or yellowish body", a bahuvrihi compound from gaura "white, yellowish, reddish" and aga "limb, member; the body".
Gauranga is a name of Krishna in Puranic literature, and in Gaudiya Vaishnavism in particular a name of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu(considered an incarnation of Krishna[1])
OT: I knew most of these original names, but Amitabh one is not true I think.
.
True but its just how its spelled. It is also Ar Rahman and Ar Rahim and Ar Rafi. I could go on and on. Al, As, Ar is just a salutation kind of.
