Since the past few days I've been watching old BW movies like Maan, Gupt, Dil se, Chori chori chupke chupke, Humraz etc etc
Even though some of them didn't did well at box Office but still they have some story and repeat value unlike movie of today's generation 😕
Just yesterday i was watching Dushman starring Aushotosh Rana and Kajol and what a fab movie it was, they don't make movies like this now and it's Sad 😭

Bollywood can never be like the 90s era because times have changed. Directors like Rajiv Rai, JP Dutta, Yash Chopra, David Dhawan, Abbas Mustan, Mahesh Bhatt and ect are long gone. Now they are trying to appeal to the youth hence why all these kissing scenes are happening. The type of movies you see are aimed for youth but not all of them.

Audience can be very critical and demanding as they want films with good content. Plus, there's different directors who attempt to make good films that audience can adapt to e.g. Rakesh OmPrakash Mehra, Kabir Khan, Vishal Bhadwaj, Rajkumar Hirani, Neeraj Pandey and ect. These kind of directors are quite intellegent as they know they audience very well.

I still think filmakers should try make more action movies, suspense thrillers and patrotic films like Border. I'm not bothered about Rom Com because there all the same unlike 90s era were you had good ones like Jab Pyar Kisise Hota Hai.

I prefer the 90s era because I grew up watching some these movies like Mohra, Jeet, Karan Arjun, Jab Pyar Kisise Hota Hai and so and so. Like you said a lot these films had repeat value as they were good although most of them were Hollywood remakes. Most of them had good content like 1947: On Earth, Border, Maachis, Zakhm, 1942: A Love Story, Damini and ect.

Unlike the modern era...most of the films were aimed for the everyone. Now days most films are aimed for the younger generation who like Ranbir, Sid, Arjun, Varun, Tiger and ect. SRK, Salman, Aamir, Akki, Ajay, Anil Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt, Sunny Deol and ect only appealed to older audiences not just youths.

We have become a very very "Star" focussed industry.

The aim now of movies is two create enough "buzz" to guarantee a bumper opening. Only the first week really matters, No one makes movies with repeat value or ones that run long

have a star, one item number, some controversy -> HIT. Creativity gayi bhaad mein

When I was young grass was green😆

Two big hits of the year Neerja and Airlift was not only much better than the likes of Maan, Humraaz, Gupt, Chori Chori, but also original authentic movies.unlike most of the nineties movies which were copy of western thrillers/rom com.

While other hits/successes of the year like Kapoors&Sons, Ki and Ka and Udta Punjab are much more original and fresh ideas.

i agree, alot of the main focus on movies nowadays is for them to be 'big box office hits'. in the 90's there wasn't this pressure of making big box office numbers, so people made movies with alot of heart, they took thier time with the films, thats why those films hav that special feeling

New generation. Same discussion.
In the 90s, everyone was saying the same thing. They missed the old days.

And the same every era before that.

There were decent films in every era as well as terrible ones.

Today we have an Udta Punjab alongside a Great Grand Masti.

Back in 1998 we had Dil Se, Dushman, 1947:Earth, but we also had the likes of Aunty No. 1 and Prem Aggan in the same year.

Same old same old. BW has always made good films and bad films. It's just that decades later, you're more likely to watch old classics rather than an old bad film

Anyhoo BW has made some good films already this year, Airlift, Neerja, and Udta Punjab to name a few. You just gotta find them after filtering through all the other junk that comes out as well
