I have read about it. It can happen when you are sleep deprived. Your brain shut downs for few second and you have no memory of that time.

Yeah it is. You almost jump when you realise. It usually happens to me at traffic lights. I do not even remember who I saw while coming out, how I drove all those streets, which shops I saw etc. Your brain completely blanks out with no recollection. It is like you are flying an airplane on auto pilot.
