As an kid growing up in the US to parents who were still very much attached to the homeland and were insistent on learning our culture, it really really was the first film and role I identified strongly with. It captured the conflict beautifully IMO. The scene where they play western music and dance when the dad is not there and change to Bhajans when he comes was especially very deja vu. 😆. It actually helped in having conversations with my parents.

I used to love the movie for its picturization..couldnt relate much to the characters but used to love the romance in it😆
