Satya was the most path breaking film of Bollywood ! That film had changed many conventions of Bollywood ! People had the idea that someone like Amrish Puri and his son like Gulshan Grover controlling Mumbai and one long haired Punjabi handsome Malhotra, Chopra type police inspector clears the mess and brings peace for Mumbai's citizen.

First time we saw that how the existent organised underworld works in Mumbai through Satya. We also come to know that there's no Chopra, Malhotra, Khanna type police inspectors working for Mumbai Police, they are actually Khanvilkar, Shinde, Deshpandey, Jadhav, Deshmukh, Patil, Gaitonde, Sawant etc.! Anurag Kashyap, who was not born and brought up in Bombay ! Hence his awareness about Bombay was different from Subhash Ghai, Mahesh Bhat, Ramesh Sippy, Rajkumar Santoshi, Yash Copra etc. ! I think from there on we can see the changes regarding story telling smartness!

He opened the floodgate; from there on we can see so many middle class or lower middle class boys started to dream big and gone to Mumbai and doing different acts which were controlled by the industry insiders earlier! These bunch of North and Central Indian middle class boys have changed the monotonous. These bunch of new age Bollywood directors have different stories to tell us. Vishal Bhardwas, Anurag Kashyap, Dibakar Banerjee, Rakesh Mehra, Kabir Khan, Jaideep Sahni, Rajkumar Gupta, Neeraj Pandey,Maneesh Sharma, Abhishek Chaubey, Varun Grover, Shoojir Sirkar, Imtiaz Ali, Vikas Bahl,Shakun Batra etc. have no filmi background, I think that helps them to create and imagine differently from KJo, Adi Chopra, Rohan Sippy, Farhan Akhtar types. Now most of the major banners except Bhat Camps have realized that Bombay is not ultimate, this India is bigger than that what Manmohan Desai, Prakash Mehra, Yash Chopra, Subhash Ghai, Rakesh Roshan, Rajkumar Santoshi, David Dhawan thought about it! Most of the big banners are now producing North and Central Indian based interesting stories, and we can perceive the transformations for the past 10 years specially!

Pros
1. More realistic view of real life in reel life.
2. Emphasis on fitness which improves appearance a lot. No pot belied heroes even if the age gap is more.
3. Emphasis on Fashion and grooming. Less eye watering looks especially on heroines and no unibrow.

Cons

1. Lost art of BW romance without kissing.
2. Lack of "family" movies.
3. Lack of trained classical dancers that has made dancing rather terrible in movies.
4. Age gap between hero and heroines
5. Painted abs 🤔
6. More starkids and less outsiders.
7. Less melodious songs.
8. Explosion of Item numbers.

A lot has changed. Fashion is example as started with Kuch Kuch Hota Hai then Post 1998 everybody in films were dressing westernised. There's other examples as well (see below).

1. Social Media: It's become huge with Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Forums and so and so. Many Actors, Actresses, Filmakers, Critics & Fan use it for debate and discussions e.g. Films, Politics and things that happening around the world. Plus, they used it to promote films and interact with fans.

Actors & Actresses being Trolled on Twitter by fans or somebody famous like KRK.

2. BoxOffice: This is something that has become important amongst critics and audiences. People talk about it on social media sites. How much core this movie has made in a week or how much it will make when the film releases.

3. More Starkids: Something that many people criticise about. What can you really do? That's the path they have chosen but not all them are going to be succesfull.

4. Intellgent directors: Most these directors in the 90s era were good like Yash Chopra, Rajumar Santoshi, Rajiv Rai, David Dhawan, JP Dutta and ect. Now you're getting good directors like Kabir Khan, Rajkumar Hirani, Vishal Bhadwaj, Rakesh Omprakash Mehra and ect who make great with films with good content.

5. Audiences: I think they are becoming smarter and smarter hence why they demand good films with better content. Social Media may be reason to it because Internet has changed most people's lives.

6. No Action Hero in the younger generation: I think Tiger Shroff is the only action hero of this generation but most actors don't really seem keen to become one. They all seem to intrested in doing Rom Com films although sometimes they do Action or Thriller.

In the 90s you had Akki,Ajay,Sunny & Sunil who were big Action Heros.

7. Lack of matured roles for the younger generation: I only recall Rambir doing Rocket Singh & Rajneeti. Varun doing Badlapur. I've not seen other actors like Sid, Arjun do matured roles...maybe i'm wrong or just don't recall any of their films.

In the 90s era most the new generation did matured roles e.g. SRK, Salman, Aamir, Akki,Ajay,Sunil, Govinda, Sunny and ect.

8. Songs: Something that has changed a lot. Some of them are good like most a crap especially those party songs which are ridiclous.

9: No Switzerland or Mauritius: Those were common destinations to film a movie but now its all about other places like Dubai.

10. Item songs: What can really say about this? I can't stand it...its pointless.

That's great analysis 👍🏼 I thought Satya was one of the best BW movies story and execution wise atleast up until that period, but didn't realize the impact and change it brought on

I'm not really bothered about kissing scenes. You have to understand that kissing scenes are happening because it's meant to be for the Youth. Guys like Varun & Ranveer are very popular amongst the Youth.

The one that i've highlighted in Red are the ones I don't agree.

Family movies no longer work in Bollywood because times have changed. PRPD was rejected by audiences (Mainly the Youth) because the story and script was outdated. Sooraj Barjatya is known for making family movies but his films will no longer work in todays time and PRDP was an example.

Age gap between Hero and Heroines has always been like this.

- Sridevi & Amitabh Bachchan
- Jeetendra & Sridevi
- Anil Kapoor & Manisha Koirala
- Sunny Deol & Shilpa Shetty
- Aamir Khan & Asin
- Salman & Katrina
- SRK & Deepika.

@Rekha_ji You're right

And before that Kapoor Brothers( Raj, Sashi, Shammi), Nutan and Tanuja... It's always been like that
Only now the number of star kids has increased drastically...

Let's put it this way... Up until the mid nighties there were more successful non star kids in BW
