I know many have not seen Bimal Roy's Devdas.
So having it in the comparison is unfair.

Devdas of SLB IMO is one of the worst movies which was actually a critical and commercial success, even Times had it as the best movie of the year😆. Acting was superficial, movie was dragged/boring and SLB made mess of the movie.

Dev-D: while Sanskari insaan rejected the movie. I have unpopular take in this one, but IMO Dev-D is best adaptation of Sharat Chandra Chattopadhyay's novel. Yes better than even Bimal Roy's Devdas.

What is the take of the Indian forum?

This is a no brainier for me. Dev D all the way. It was brilliant and the songs were incredible. I still have them on my playlist.

Dev D. Once you understand the movie you learn to appreciate it. I loved all the colorful characters and mini stories inside it. I have also been to some of the places in Punjab that has been shown in this movie so I could get the whole humor.
