Sarbjit To Be India's official entry to the Oscars?

June 24, 2016 aishu_vasu

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan-Randeep Hooda starrer Sarbjit won hearts with its gut-wrenching story and outstanding performances by the leads.
The film was also screened at the Cannes Film Festival this year. Now, the producer of the film Vashu Bhagnani plans to submit the film as one of the contenders for India's official entry to the Oscars. He confirmed the news stating, "We will send it as an entry, independently or in the race with other films. We will channelise our energy to make sure Sarbjit is in the race to become India's entry to the Oscar this year."
He further added, "We will also enrol the film as one of the competitors in the bid for National Awards."
That's such an amazing news. We wish the Sarbjit team all the best

Send Aligarh or Neerja from Bollywood if they want to be recognised

but does it really matter what India sends to Oscars? How is that platform the best place for films to get recognition. I recall watching Rahul Bose's interview last week and it made clear sense that Oscars is just few americans trying to claim they recognise world cinema the best when there's only one nomination given to films outside USA. Even Cannes film festival seems more superior than them.

I vouch for Aligarh. Also saw Traffic recently on plane but it was boring as f**k the whole plot was mumbo jumbo. Not the usual Manoj Bajpayee finesse.
