Well I do think the whole arrest and MNS involvement is too much and overreaction, but I feel Tanmay already knew such outrage would happen and he did all this knowingly.
Same happened during AIB roasts when suddenly they became quite popular, debates over them everywhere, new live shows, a star plus show etc. That "AIB thing" was diminishing so he did all this taking two of most popular celebs of India. All the reaction, whether in support of him or against is overreaction. That idiot doesn't need any.

Sonam trolled Shobha when Shobha called her bad actress and called out IHLS. That wasn't even making fun just review on her movie. Nothing even closer to what Tanmay said. Still, mind you Lata ji and Sachin are classy people who didn't react to it like Sonam did. Its political parties and fans who're against them. Maybe if it was Sonam or any otherceleb being victim of such crass joke, people's reaction would've been same

So if Tanmay can exercise his freedom of expression/speech and get away with anything even if it is wishing for someone's death, then I guess, so do others. Freedom of expression exists in every democratic western countries. But citizens are responsible enough, not to misuse it.

What's misuse of freedom of speech? Who gets to decide what's responsible and what's not! Isn't that a little too subjective? According to plenty out there, it isn't all that responsible to mock the Prophet or ridicule him but he has been mocked and ridiculed. Same goes for idols from other religions out there. I don't know a whole lot about the laws in other countries but if I'm not wrong you can even burn the flag of USA in that country. As long as you're not doing something illegal, you have the right to express yourself. However threatening folks with violence ain't freedom of speech. You can be booked for something like that! You didn't care for his joke, don't laugh! You find it crass then state that! You think it was obnoxious, state your opinion on it! But to say just because he said something you don't like, you can beat him up...come on!
