The film opened to largely mixed to negative reviews from critics, but that was no dampener for enthusiastic fans of the two actors. People flocked the theatres to watch Tiger Shroff and Shraddha Kapoor in action, resulting in a Rs 55.69-crore business for the film in just six days of its release.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted the box-office figures:
On her part, Shraddha is ecstatic with the kind of response her film has received. Kapoor told IANS, "The best compliments that I got for Baaghi were the kind of reactions I got from the single-screen theatres where people were whistling and shouting for certain dialogues. It was great as they were enjoying the film and that's a huge compliment when people clap for your work."
She added, "We actually went to Chandan (a single-screen theatre in Juhu, Mumbai) to get the feel of it and it was really nice as the audience was so happy. We got news from inside that they were screaming, shouting and whistling inside."
Baaghi had Shraddha Kapoor breaking out of her girl-next-door image and kicking and punching on the silver screen. Shraddha, along with co-actor Tiger Shroff, had to undertake extensive training to fit into their roles in Baaghi.
The Tiger and Shraddha film hit the screens on April 29, and ever since, has been going from strength to strength at the ticket windows in the country. Apart from the two actors, Baaghi stars Telugu actor Sudheer Babu and Sunil Grover in pivotal roles.
