Why do we diss superstars?

My earliest knowledge of superstardom is of Rajesh Khanna's. I heard females used to throw them in front of his car just to have a glimpse of him. Then came Amitabh Bachhan..A generation changed because of him. .Mithun Chakraborty still today is referred to as 'guru' 'guru' whenever he goes...In recent times 3 khans along with Akki and to some extent HR can be called superstars.

In female actors Hema Malini, Madhuri and Srivedi reached the zenith and saw the madness.
Katrina and Deepika too have seen some stardom may not be at their level but still some..

For me superstars are those who creates frenzy amongst common people. Who are loved, adored, worshipped crazily by their fans...People loves to laugh and cry with them. People feel like they are their lovers, siblings or parents or whatever way they want them to fit into their life. Even after their death people loves to speak about them and their work like their own.

When you are getting such kind of love and adulation then what's wrong in being a superstar? Is there a genuine reason for not wanting to be superstar?

Please note I'm not naming the regional superstars like Rajikant, Gemini, Uttam Kumar etc who were at times even bigger than the hindi movie stars. Also I'm talking about genuine superstars not the 'internet' one.

Because our favorites are unable to reach to their level.. Because our favorites have to be content being called as artsy and do not ignite a frenzy.. because even when our favorites win something special, people pay more attention to what the superstar is doing upon not winning it

Everyone falls eventually. Even superstars.

If they break the law, their quality of work goes down.

Audiences will lose interest eventually

Wanting to be a superstar has got nothing to do with us dissing them...

Anyway, I will try answering both your questions...

We diss superstars simply because they are not as great as their rabid fans claim them to be... Blind love/worshipping can be off-putting and I personally dont think any of the BW superstars deserve that level of adulation...thats just my opinion. I know thats not gonna stop blind haters from blindly hating and blind lovers from blindly loving.

As for your next question..A genuine reason why one would not want to be a superstar...Hmm, I guess it depends on what level of superstardom you are talking about. If you are talking about Khan level or Bachchan level of superstardom, then one reason could be the sheer amount of responsibility that comes along with being a superstar... These people are heralded as if they are some kind of demigods... and I believe once that image is created it takes a lot of effort to maintain it.

I am not a blind fan for sure. I diss my favorites too. But I do see a lot of bashing for srk-dp so many times and it makes me voice my opinions. when others do the same thing they do, people don't judge them harshly like they do with shah-dp

Is it really always dissing? There can aways be people debating about a certain superstar and his/her performance. It doesn't mean that someone is dissing. If for instance, I did not like Salman's acting in a particular movie, or say Hrithik's acting, doesn't mean im dissing. I might still like their other work. This is all a matter of opinion. Negative opinion is also an opinion and not necessarily a sign of hatred for that actor.

Simple. 'For whom much is given much is required' is a saying. If you are privileged, the expectations are higher.

Ideally we should judge everyone by the same standards, but not everything or everyone are created equal. So though I like SRK more, my criticism of him, Salman, Aamir will be more especially when I think they put out a bad product. I will be less harsh on someone like Varun, Sid if they do something similar because they don't have as much power as the Khan trio.

Similarly, I have more expectations of starkids right off the bat than a newbie who is an outsider. It is because to get a chance a newbie probably faced more odds and even horrifying things like a casting couch to get things which a starkid gets without much effort.

Generally people sympathize with an underdog especially someone they feel people are being unfair to.
