Just saying...Neerja is a great film and I loved it. In fact, its one of my favourite films of the last 3 years. I guess it has minted about 35.32 cr in 1 week and of course due to its budget of just 21 crores, it is being touted as a superhit.

Tamasha garnered 40 crores in its first weekend itself and due to its high budget, it still could not recover costs.

Now my point is - Tasmha had great star-power and poor content. I still believe DP is responsible for the film doing so well on its first weekend.

So, what is more imp: stapower or content for a film? Or a combination? Discuss.

I think thess days combination is the one. Star power is still a factor definitely but thankfully people don't accept meaningless films these days (Eg: Dilwale). Content is becoming the new factor slowly in BW.

I agree with you Deepika is responsible for Tamasha doing well. I did not like the movie much, but I watched it only for Deepika. 😃 And as usual she was pretty and her performance was amazing!

Star power for the opening and content for a good word of mouth.

It's better to have both to benefit from a good synergy.

star power can give a movie a gud opening number, but for it to hav a gud run at the box office it needs positive word of mouth and content

pre release buzz is also very important, coz it adds to the opening day and first weekend collections

D same can b said abt piku..it wasn't a high budget movie like tamasha bt wid great wom managed a super hit tag..it's first week collections almost equalled tamasha's first weekend collections..So I think it is not just deepika who got audiences to d cinema halls bt dere were many other factors owing to which tamasha earned dis much..stardom is one of dem bt nt d only one

Entertainment is must, the film needs to hold the audience for its duration. Next is star power which brings in initial opening. By content if u mean real storyline then forget it, its BW, that was never here.😆

Obviously content. There are hundreds of films which starred big names but failed due to poor content. There are hardly any movie which flopped inspite generating great WOM!

Disagree with u on that tamasha and Neerja are un comparable.if u have compared piku and Neerja then its right coz both are female centric 😛 .
Solid content these days is a necessity.Neerja proved it 👏 . For good opening u need a star power too.
ALSo sonam doing neerja was in a great buzz too.if the actress was new I don't know the buzz was same or not.
